trying to decide which rifle to go with during the Carolina Run And Gun 5K.
Course will include barricades to get over, stuff the crawl under and through, obstacles of various types, etc. in addition to just getting around 3+ miles.
Rifle shots out to 400yards.
Options:
- 18" Odin Works heavy barrel, fixed rifle stock, and Burris 1-8x weighs in at about 9.5#. This is the rifle I use for 3 gun matches. I can knock 400yard shots all day long, but it's long and heavy for negotiating the course.
- 10.3" SBR with Ballistic Advantage barrel. Right at 7.25# with Vortex 1-4x. The SBR is light, will sling/carry easily and has been my go to "fun" rifle for a while, so I know it runs. Only problem is that I've never gone past 150yds with it. I'm a bit concerned about making hits at 400yds with the 10.3" barrel.
- 16" PSA Freedom series stainless pencil barrel. 7.1# with vortex 1-4x. is light and less cumbersome and may give me better ballistics than the SBR, but it's my backup rifle that only has ~100 rounds through it.
Thoughts?
