I REALLY enjoy the Run n Gun events that I’ve been doing the last 6 years. Everything I do in shooting is with an eye toward that sport.

I’d like to find a way to help others get into it. I hear a lot of folks say “I’d like to but…”

So, I have an idea to do an intro type run. A shorter course that would let folks get a feel for the sport, or let a RnG regular shake out new gear, or just come have fun. The vibe would be intentionally and specifically newbie friendly and low key. We could even do a short “what to expect” session before the race kicks off.

I’m thinking a mile or so, relatively flat course with 4+\- stages. It would depend greatly on who I could rustle up to RO.

Anyway, would this crowd have any interest?

Defiantly interested in being an RO and participant. Any dates in mind?

Definitely interested, especially if it’s doable in a day from real Eastern NC.

Tagged for interest. My participation depends entirely on scheduling, but I’m all ears.

Sounds great! If the date works I would RO and try to bring friends to shoot. Even if the date doesn’t work, I’d try to send friends…

Short fat guy who wouldn't mind trying it.

I'd say in general I'm less concerned about physical conditioning than the distance shooting, only because 99% of my shooting is at 25 yds or less indoor range since I don't have convenient access to anything longer. I never get to let any of my gear stretch its legs.

Shooting at distance after being winded from running is an eye opening experience.

If you have a good zero, it’s basically point and click out to 300 so I wouldn’t sweat the distance thing too much.

and what better way to learn than by doing!

Everything I do is after being winded 😆

Is it possble to Walk and gun? Semi-serious. Some of us have issues.

I walk 90% of the 'runs' I participate in. Probably 1/4 of the shooters do the same.

I would like to do the run and gun thing BUT I never know when they are until you end up posting the after action report.

@Tim, are there details on on that land nav & gun thing they did last year?

So, what would a minimum gear/gun setup look like for something like this?

center fire rifle
centerfire pistol with retention holster (or run it cold )
40 rifle impacts, 200 yards and in
40 pistol impacts, 40 yards and in
a way to carry it all! Backpack, battle belt, chest rig...

I'd be willing to help you set up/RO or whatever in any way that I could, pending scheduling. Even then, I have a few different options I can utilize to get some extra days.
