I enjoy this little gun but it shoots low. I tend to put the dot high enough that the blade looks like a golf tee above the rear sight groove. I’ve thought about filing it since it is pinned but I’m not sure I want to go that route.

I would have a gunsmith exchange the factory sight with one that is lower.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

Average Joe, I may do that. I just don’t see many sight options for a lower profile.

Nobodyimportant, I can do that but I like the idea of this as a snake gun with some precision and when something is close I sometimes forget to raise the dot higher.

Jfanatic, I have and haven’t noticed any different results. I do have a few varieties of subsonics and target ammo I might try.

Contact Fermin Garza. He makes custom sight blades. Tell him how tall your front sight is now and how low it shoots. He'll make a blade for you.

The 43c your talking about is the black 22lr with a snub nose right?

Mine hits POA at 10 yards, so I am pleased. As suggested above, I would let someone else shoot it, and try different weight and velocity rounds to see if that changes POI. Good luck!

I'm also in the what ammo are you using crowd

Update:

I had someone else shoot it yesterday and didn’t tell them anything beforehand. They shot it almost a foot low with Federal blue box 36 gr hollow points and CCI velocitor’s. Only about 8 inches low with Stingers.

I then shot it again with all three but I put the entire dot above the rear notches. I was still around 6 inches low with the first two types and a bit higher with the stingers.

The distance was about 12 yards.

I don’t expect a target pistol but I am a bit disappointed. I’d like to be minute of snake at 5 or so yards.

Wow, that's pretty good evidence there is a problem with the gun. When I saw your most recent post I took mine to the front yard and fired about 50 rounds at paper, a mix of Mini-Mags and Stingers, just to make sure my memory was correct about POA. It was, shooting a J frame at 7, 10, and 12 yards my groups were wobbly as I expected, but centered on the target, with just as many a little high as a little low. Sorry for your problem.

One other issue with the Airweight J frames is the extremely heavy trigger pulls. 20 bucks for a Wolff spring kit and an hour of your time make a real difference in your shooting.
my wife’s 642 shot way low for her, and my 442 shot high for me. After changing out the springs the POI was more or less centered for both guns.

You might not get by with this on your gun....those rimfires come with Heavy springs for a reason....you will have misfires!

Now that we are satisfied your gun shoots low no matter who is shooting, next we need to know are you getting decent groups? If yes, then Then I would be comfortable with working on the front sight.
