This may be a dumb question, I'm going to pick up an M&P 9 2.0 (probably compact) soon and I was looking at them today and the newer ones have the new trigger that feels spectacular and the new raised sights that I don't like at all. My question is can I just swap out the tall sights for regular height sites? Are the new ones designed for accuracy with the tall sights I guess is what I'm asking. It sounds dumb but for some reason I can't get my brain around it.

Are you talking about a suppressor ready or optics ready model?

Those come with higher sights to be used with a suppressor or optic in place (either would obscure normal ones).

Standard models still come with standard height. Yes you could change them but unless you prefer a particular set. Money in the bank to get a standard mp9 with their standard height sights.

Yes you can definitely swap them out and you most definitely will need a sight pusher tool. Punches are asking for a headache!

The newer optic ready ones have a different trigger. The newer shield plus's have the same trigger and I really love that trigger. I guess I can get the hinged trigger one and drop an apex in it. Might be easier than getting the good trigger and switching the sights. All the ones with the trigger I like have the sights I don't. I'm not interested in optics so I don't like the higher irons.

The hinged triggers on the 2.0’s are still good, and I’d be willing to bet, even as much as I don't like the hinged trigger, it wouldn’t change your times if you shot it on the clock.

I put Apex FSS triggers in an M&P 1.0 and 2.0. I can’t say that it helped me put rounds on target any faster or more accurately.

Yeah just because it feels better in the store doesn't mean it's going to be more accurate I guess.

See, new trigger but high sites

That won’t change how you shoot. My Springfield Prodigy has taller sights for shooting with an optic. I shot 4th out of 99 shooters at a recent match for accuracy (but certainly not time because I’m old and slow)

You can take this to the bank. How it feels in the store, (and an M&P feels good, the hinged trigger notwithstanding) will not predict how well it puts rounds on target for you.

My main concern is the site's getting hung up on clothes and brush.
