Thought I’d toss it out there but y’all gonna recommend stuff 2x the cost of the gun. Looking for a low cost, compact, low magnification optic for a 10/22 TD in a Magpull backpacker stock. It should fit in the Ruger takedown bag assembled to the receiver (I can live with the slight zero shift.) I don’t want NCStar but I don’t want an Trijicon either.

I thought about the Sig MSR w/ Juliet 3x I have but they ended up on a PCC, too big and high above bore to account for the flip mechanism of the Juliet. Have a low profile Holosun 508G on it now but wouldn’t mind a bit of magnification.

Any good, affordable compact 4x scopes? Maybe TruGlo 2x42 red dot? Primary arms 6x32 ACSS (more magnification then I think I want). Looked at an affordable TruGlo 4x32 but it’s 11” long, which is too long IMO. Monstum 3x Prism? Not sure what I’m forgetting… All over the place, I know. That’s why I’m here.

I put the Holosun 503G on it for now and it is nice. May go that route ultimately but even 3x via the Juliet was a big step up, and I have pretty good eyes. That’s what got me looking.

1-4x 20mm, Monstrum makes one for $99 range
My takedown packer just has a TRS-25, very compact.
Edit, man that might be the way to go with a scope, hadn’t seen that one before. Thanks!

Primary Arms just released their 3x micro prism.

Oh man that thing looks sweet & perfect! Edit just realized it’s preorders only and has an ACSS 223/308 reticle. Prob not this go around but a good advancement in prism sights.

Ah I didn't think about that. Are you definitely wanting magnification? I love their MD-20 dot, but they also have a fixed 6x rimfire scope.

Come to think of it, I've never seen any prisms that aren't designated for 5.56/308/5.45 or 7.62x39/300blk.

Once I pickup the Aimpoint Duty RDS, I'll be putting the MD-20 on my Henry Classic.

Is that the PA 6x with the rim fire ACSS reticle? I’ve seen that recommended but wonder if 6x is more than I want. I have a 3-9x Simmons, it’s too big for this but might need to spend some more time at 3x and 6x. Had an offer for a Monstrum 3x Prism too, might just go with that for now.

Yes that's it. I had the same reservations about the 6x. I would prefer a fixed 4x but can't seem to find the Leupold in stock.

Is your Simmons the 8 Point? I have that one I picked up on some sale for $20 a long time ago. It's just sitting in my parts box.

SIM3940C, Mil dot 3-9x40, not terrible just long. Probably be perfect for a fixed 10/22.

Just played with it, looking more at sight picture etc. 6x is definitely longer than I’d like, so thanks for the comments which got me investigating more. Guess I can cross the PA 6x off.

I put these on my 22LR pump and 22LR lever…

$40. Fixed 4x.

I had one of those in my cart and for the price it looked like a good option. But the spec seem to say it was 11 1/2 inches long? Too long, and would stick out too far past the receiver when broken down if so. Does that size seem right to you?

Can you find a Leupold FX-1 ? Sub 10" and fixed 4x.

Ain't $40, but...

I’m still mentally coming around to paying as much for a scope as the rifle. I also have good eyes so willing to push it a little, don’t need the sharpest or highest mag. There’s a Nikon P-Tactical 2-7x NOS at the LGS that’s also tempting but I don’t think it’ll actually benefit me in the real world. Same with the quality a Leopold brings (but there is one on Amazon).

I hear ya. I tend to have cheaper optics (usually PA) on my backup guns and then have one in each caliber as my go-to with nicer optics...makes it harder when it's a .22lr but the 10/22 TD is a great rifle. I don't have one but have wanted the Magpul variant for a while now.

I've got a tasco world class 3-9 on a pellet rifle. it's pretty good for $60, blows the same magnification Simmons a buddy has out of the water.

I've also got the Leupold fx1 4x on a 10/22 and that thing is the awesome. very clear class, transmits plenty of light in the last few minutes of shooting time. It's also pretty decent when looking in the direction of the sun, tasco not so much.
