My folks on my old man's side of the family were from Ashe county. I was a real little feller back then but I remember my cousin, who I looked up to as a big brother. told me there was one up on the mountain behind their house. I never saw it. He said that nobody would shoot it for fear they would be shooting a ghost deer and it would be a curse.

Seems more common sightings. I’ve seen two friends game cams of white deer in the past two years. Never heard of one in my life before that.

Was the velvet white too? That's looks like a full albino. I've seen a family unit where the doe, yearling, and fawn were all some form of calico. Too much white and too little brown.
