Short wait times for suppressors are the new normal

IMHO, almost any other rimfire can on the market. I have about 4 dozen cans, and my Sparrow is really the only one I regret buying.

It was the king at one point, but so many better options out there…ESPECIALLY for a handgun. It’s heavy, with noticeable FRP on a pistol. It shines in one scenario, when you want to tuck it inside a rail and not worry about leaving the mount behind when you remove a can. And I hate the disassembly/reassembly process.

TBAC 22TD
YHM Phantom 22
DA Mask
Rugged Oculus
HB Vidar 22
AAC Halcyon
EA Nyx
AAC Element 3

I’d buy a dozen of any single one from that list before I (personally) would buy a Sparrow.

What are your thoughts on the AB little bird?

What are your thoughts on the AB little bird?
I’d never heard of it until you asked. So I went and watched this video:

My thoughts:
1. All aluminum. Yuck.
2. Longer than most rimfire cans.
3. Narrower than most rimfire cans.
4. Baffle system seems to be an answer to a question nobody is asking.

Would it be a can I recommended for your first, second or even third rimfire can? Nope.

But for somebody that loves to tinker, and wants to spend a lot of time fine tuning for a specific host and ammo…I guess it could be fun?

Ordered Saturday morning. Got a shipping notice at 1:42p today (Monday). So at least the F3 was quick.

I ordered a Five by Five can from ECCO Machine last Thursday. F3 was back to them in 16 hours. Can was shipped out on Friday afternoon. Absolutely amazing! Hoping the Form 4 has similar luck : )

I'm at 17 and 24 days for four total. Apparently the week after eForms went down in mid-March is known as the "Week of Sadness" since hardly any of the pending submissions have been approved. I have a Mojave 9 on a Form 3 that I'll need to certify eventually, so I'm hoping they'll approve that, batch my other four, and I'll be able to pull them from the depths of the abyss.

Got my other approved this afternoon,

This is awesome

Waited on hold with the ATF for about 59 minutes today to try to see what the deal was. Learned effectively nothing except that the ATF's hold music is decent.

I’m going on 16 days since i submitted my form 1. Surprised i am still waiting on it. Last one in January was 13 days. My 2 cans was 5 days and was surprised they didn't do the form 1 with the form 4’s

Today is 2 weeks exactly I signed up for a Sandman L. Stop in the store yesterday to ask them if they could hurry it up as I am getting impatient. I saw an FDE Ruger 22/45 Lite and was stupid enough to ask if there is anybody that makes an FDE can for a .22 that matches the pistol. “I’ve got one, a Dead Air Mask”. At least I got to bring the pistol home, now I am waiting on two. What is wrong with me?

Scott (THSF) confirmed he hasn’t had any fast trust approvals. Submitted mine that way today anyway…not in a rush.
I have a couple over there to submit on next week. I'll probably stick with the trust on these as well even if it takes longer.

Nothing. That can is surreal, no FRP, Hollywood. And, all FDE? Picture, please!

Another benefit of working at my local range/retail is being able to check items out of "jail" and play before the feds approve all the paperwork. Just gotta put it back before leaving.

I submitted for a new can on my trust on sunday. buying the can gets me a free can from the same manuf/dealer
Late sunday night i was sending my "gimme my free can" email and i noticed the dealer put MY name down instead of the trust name, but checked the trust box. every other document submitted has the trust name, with me as the only RP

I'm not sure what the atf is gonna do with that... I'm hoping they do the "you messed up, resubmit and it will be done right now thing".
but if the new can comes before that happens, I'll probably just head back to the dealer, cancel the original submission, then submit for both at once with the correct info.

I guess I am being looked at for that job in a different state... and that would be on a 6-8wk timeline... so... racing the clock if i do get the job.

Have a huxwrx 7.62 ventium submitted 10/23, just bought a silencerco octane 45 2.0 on Tuesday from Fuquay Gun. Hoping it’s quick. Hoping more it will shake the huxwrx loose also.

I ordered my second mask today and it is FDE also

Question for the masses:
If you already have a trust, do you HAVE to do them henceforth that way? From what I gather, trust purchases still snail racing….

No future purchase has anything to do with a previous purchase.

Alternate trust and individual if you want.
Buy 100 as an individual, one as a trust, and 100 more as an individual.
Buy three dozen, all on separate trusts.
Buy one as an individual, three as an LLC, another as an indivisible, then a dozen on the same trust.

Whatever the heck you feel like doing.

I guess I should add…

The only time I can think of that a previous purchase matters is the 24-month exempted clause. If you file a new form, as an entity, within 24-months of a prior approval…you can avoid providing the entity documentation. But you still have to do all the RPQ stuff, so it’s not much of a time saver since you should have a PDF of the documentation you’re gonna upload anyway.

And if speed is more important than money, you can always transfer them from you as an individual to your trust at $200/ea sometime down the road. You maintain possession the whole time.

Put my first one in jail today with Secundus Systems. Hoping for one of these quick approvals. Getting a rugged oculus.
Great can, love mine.

Waiting on a prior submission from October/2023 for a Huxwrx ventium 7.62, but just did an Octane 45 on 4/10 and a Huxwrx 556k flow on 4/16…. No trusts, so Fingers crossed.
