Sig P365 Macro

There were two at the WS show today (the lower priced one was on @cubrock ’s table). I was able to compare it to a Shield 380 EZ. They have exactly the same dimensions. 17+1 is plenty impressive.

Just curious, what were the prices?

It looks like the 17 round mags will fit the xl and the xl slide will fit the macro frame. Im guessing the xl barrel would also fit the macro but it doesn't say that specifically.

Just so you know a S&W M&P holster fits the 322 like it was made for it.

That works great if you are trying it and find out. Much less great if I'm making it and selling it as a 322 and it's not quite. I've already got a P322 anyway. Been making some holsters for it.

And from what it looks like now that handgunhero has the comparison up, the P322 is a larger frame and longer slide than the Macro.

Will the 17rd mags come with a separate base plate for use in the XL like the 12rd and 15rd mags do?

If that's the case I'd have no reason to buy a macro unless I wanted the comp function and retain the rear irons (which seems unnecessary if I'm using a HS optic with the rear notches).

We are thinking alike here. I do like that the macro has adjustable backstraps. Would be nice to play with one and see if it feels any better than the xl.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if the backstraps genuinely add enough "girth" to the grip to make it worth while.

The 17 rds doesn't even appeal to me, as the 15rd extended mags I have for the XL print a bit whereas the flush 12 rounders do not. As with all my carry guns, I don't notice any extra barrel length how I carry, but the length of the grip and cant are what dictates whether it prints on me or not. The X-macro is taller than a G19 and is the same height as a P320 carry. I feel like if you're carrying something that "needs" a picatinny rail and a full sized grip, you probably shouldn't be looking at micro 9 platforms to begin with.

Those are all very good points. I guess 17 rounders for range use is about all that makes sense.

About printing…

My carry setup prints like Tom Jones did (but I don’t carry appendix). Nobody is paying attention!

The average person isn't, but I also don't want the baddies/mall cops to know I'm carrying.

I fondled one yesterday... it's feels great. I'll know more when I get to shoot one, which should be later this week. It seems to address the issues with the p365 series: loosing the rear sights with an optic, swell in the grip for more purchase, back straps modularity, etc.. I was impressed with the feel of the pistol in my hand. The comp at least isn't via a ported barrel which should allow shooting from soft retention and inside a vehicle without blasting your face.

The only real downside I could find from my 5 minute fondle was the slide release is stiff as hell, but that may break in and be just fine. My p365 (now my wife's, she took possession of it. lol) was the same way when I bought it, then loosened up and wasn't a problem.

I too rolled my eyes at yet "another p365 variant" when i saw it released, but for $800 it sure does check a lot of boxes. If it shoots as good as it feels, I'm gonna pick one up.

I think the stiff slide release is just a new 365 thing. My XL was the same way too, and was no issue after 100 rounds.

12rd for concealment + 2 17rounders on the belt yeehaw baby.

I run my M18 with the flush mags and two 21rders on the belt.

In your opinion is it worth the money? And what did you pay if you don't mind sharing?

Ordered one yesterday. I got to feel one at Basspro but they only had 1. First I asked the sales guy and he said nope don't have any. I was like the website says in stock. Oh better check in back then. Then the another guy was like if you have it I want to check it out too. But only 1, and since I know I can't make it to the range this week I just let the other guy have it.
Went home and just ordered on Cabelas for pickup. So should have it Friday.
The grip did seem to fill the hand a little more. Which I like. Didn't get to try the other back straps but felt good. I do wish they had one with a safety. Sure those will come later and well, not always a patient man. :)
Once I pick this up I will probably list my Mako. 1 range day on it but really the Macro or well smaller grip module and mag, would take away the whole need for that pistol.

Yeah. My little .357 snubby prints more than my local Duncan-Parnell. I don’t care anymore.

I have the XL, will I be able to just get a new frame and swap everything over? How much more are these magazines going to cost?

If all you care about is the capacity, I'm pretty sure the 17rd mags fit just fine in your XL frame. No need to buy one. Prob just need a baseplate, I'm assuming it comes with two. Mags usually $40-45

Depending on what your FFL charges, this might save you a few bucks.

So one of my buds picked one up and we shot it the other night before and after our training session... bottom line, it's fantastic.
The slide release works just fine with a loaded mag, otherwise it's stiff. Besides that, it's all positives.
The trigger broke in nicely after 100 rounds or so. The mush gone and the trigger felt great, good solid wall, and crisp break (for a factory trigger, it's not a comp or hammer trigger, but it's nice).
The palm swell works well to improve grip. Overall it's much less snappy than the p365 and p365xl. We didn't notice any fireballs coming out of the comp that were any larger (or more vertical) than a standard p365.
It ate everything we fed it, even some not so reliable BPS 9mm.

So, yeah, I'm gonna have to pick one up.

If you already have a p365 or xl, i'd just grab mags, and maybe a grip module when they become available. Since my wife laid claim to my p365, I guess this will have to fill it's spot.

Looks like the 17-rnd SKU is coming soon:

SKU:MAG-365-9-17

$55?

Good grief. And where is the spare base plate? Someone is about to make a bunch of money soon if SIG doesn't release a factory baseplate replacement for X and XL.

One thing Glock always has over competitors is magazine cost.

The 15rd mags are $40-45. Hoping the list price is just some MSRP garbage.

I think once the "new" factor wears off these mags will drop in price. I'd bet they have these high to keep the demand at bay for a bit until they manufacture a ton of them... but yeah, that price is steep. Who do they think they are HK?

I'm going to wait another six months so they can release another seventeen iterations of the 365 before I decide what to get next.

This is probably the best strategy. It’s funny cause it’s true.

If you want to trade off that one with no safety, let me know and we can try and work something out.

At this point it's almost downright insulting.

I heard they're dropping the P365 X-Carry Legion Macro Micro tomorrow, and then the new slide drops the next week. It's supposed to be the perfect size between the XL and Macro.

Family pic for anyone interested in comparing size.

Macro
P322
Xl
P365

Initial thoughts. Gun feels great in the hand. Trigger has a little take up but once you hit the wall next step it breaks. No mush. Crisp break. Not too heavy. Hi viz sights but not night sights.

At what point does the Micro 9 become a regular old subcompact? I still think the P365XL is the all around sweet spot for size/performance.

The Macro is almost as long as my p320 to the end of the grip. I swapped a XL grip module on my carry piece. It’s just right, like baby bear’s portage.

I bought the 15 rounders for my XL thinking I'd use them for carry, but never do. They live their life in the range bag. With how I carry, grip length and angle affects concealment far more than length of barrel/slide, which is why I think the XL was just right.
