Site Upgraded 10-21-2020

Ok so the issues is bots. Bots crawl the web looking for new content. Since we changed IP addresses the bots are recrawling the site.


The bots are now blocked at the nginx webserver level.

Good. That’s where @gunbelt would’ve blocked them, but he’s probably busy and not able to fulfill all his mod/admin duties.

How do I get it to stop asking me if I want to open this page and tap a talk? Never used to do that before the upgrade now every time I open up a thread I have to click on a button. Any ideas?

What browser are you running and are you blocking cookies or any addons that are blocking cookies?
 
Well...the site didn't log me out between now and last night. So that's a good sign!
 
Just realized something I miss...

Used to be when you were in a forum you could see that a thread had multiple pages. It helped me to spot certain threads without paying close attention to the titles. :(

I’m not part of the group that shows it but it should be under the special section if you scroll to the bottom.

I do like the new look but maybe someone can help with a problem I'm having since upgrade. Pictures in BST do not display anymore. I see a line with a number.jpg but will not display. Maybe it's because my computer is so dang old -or maybe it's because I'm so dang old. Thanks for any input!

The security geek in me wants to tell you I know its what you're used to but you run the risk with Vista. Vista is so old they dont carry support for it nor do they patch any security problems with it. There are known issues where just browsing a website on vista opens your computer up to being hacked. Happy to help make some recommendations if you decide to upgrade.

The drop down arrow beside the diskette icon is useful.

I like it.
 
UPDATE:

I mentioned previously that I had problems staying logged in on the site from my work computer. I'm no longer experiencing this.

I'm thinking that it may simply have been related to @amnesia doing his thing as he tweeked things over the days.

Heh! Several years ago, a brother of mine was telling me he was going to upgrade his computer (motherboard, blah, blah, blah), but had to burn everything onto DVDs before he did.

At the time, I had several 250 GB external hard drives I had copied contents over onto 1 TB drives. I offered to mail him a couple..."just plug them into a USB port, then copy everything over, easy-peasy."

He said he couldn't because the USB port wasn't working.

At this point, I was starting to get a little suspicious about this "upgrade" project of his and asked him what operating system he was running.

"Windows 98."

"Dude, you don't need to 'upgrade' your computer, you need to replace it. Windows 7 came out two or three years ago. Just buy a new computer and be done with it, it'll be a lot cheaper than 'upgrading' this one. Because you're essentially going to have to replace everything but the power supply anyway."

"Oh, so now you're trying to tell me what to do!"

"Hey, it's your money! I'm just the guy offering to send you some external hard drives at no cost!"
 
I haven't seen this curiosity discussed. Maybe I missed it.

I've noticed that whenever I upload a picture, the image ends up showing three posting options: two of which say "+ Full image" and the third "+ Thumbnail".

Both of the "+ Full image" options work.

Why are there two for adding the full image? An oversight? Glitch? Nobody noticed it before? Orange Man Bad?

I think that’s changed from when it first upgraded. Used to just be two. Weird.

Click attach files. Choose the pics. When it comes back to this screen, click Insert Multiple:ADDDC085-B121-4729-B036-448A523947AF.jpeg

then check the box (what I think most don’t realize) and click Full Image:
