My friend picked up his rifle today and asked if i could order a sling for it (I do his gun shopping since he's a working man and I have nothing better to do). Anyway, I don't have the Ruger to look at front sight fixture to see what sort of adapter/sling fitting will work. It has a sling fitting on the butt but not on the front sight. Does anyone know what sort of adapter fits the front of the Ruger?

Looks like a QD socket

The other side just attaches to the buttstock, either to the bottom (not my preference) or through the slot provided.

Its the Standard Ruger; looks like the pics shown above in Timfoilhat's input. I remember, now, seeing the above pic, the hole underneath the front sight, but didn't know what it was for. I think this is the attachment needed: https://www.brownells.com/shooting-...-15-car-15-quick-detach-swivel-prod24866.aspx

My friend,
The link you sent shows 3 rifles, Standard, MPR and Freefloat handguard

FSP = Front Sight Base
QD = Quick Detach Push Button Swivels "sling attachment"
Thanks for the explanation I think I can now find him a sling. If it were mine, I'd prob put the short loop style that fits just on the butt stock, but I'm going to get the longer one for him and let it go at that.

Single Point slings like what you describe aren't that great, especially for beginners. Set it up with a two point sling and it will work for transport and retention.

Looking to get a sling that hooks to both the front (QD) and to the rear, like you show above. Isn't that a 2 point?
