Anyone compete or practice Silhouette in NC anywhere east of Wilkesboro? Seems to be a mountain sport.

Used to participate all the time in Charlotte. But, that was years sgo. Definitely not a mountain specific sport unless clubs just don't sponsor it often. It's challenging and I loved it. I would think, with the ammo shortages it would be popular again.

I think Hyco up near Roxboro is still running a silhouette match.

I might be interested in this type of match. Could you explain what it is and what the requirements are. And is there anywhere near Statesville that has this type of match?

Basically, think of off-hand shooting of steel cutouts of animals (chickens, pigs, turkeys, Rams) at 25, 50, 75 and 100yds. IIRC, strings of 5 in a 2:30min (?) timeframe. In rimfire the targets are miniaturized. And not only do you have to hit the target, the have to be knocked over. And at our range, come off the stand. We used to have interesting "misses" where a target would spin or even flip, but not come off the stand. It's a hunter oriented game.

I shot my best when I was shooting this in rimfire and centerfire.
