**** 10/16: Pay at the Event option added to the Practiscore Registration. If you plan to attend, we'd really appreciate if you registered ahead of time! You can register on-site, but it helps us organize and plan if we know you're coming! ****

Our FIRST Muzzleloading event at VOD Tactical with Match Director @Windini , host @VOD Tactical and Practiscore monkey @Tim

October 21st, 0830 Mandatory Safety Brief. We’re planning planning to wrap early afternoon.

This is a FUN shoot and a low-key day with muzzleloaders, don't be afraid to come out if you've never shot your ML before!

We plan a 15 target Woods Walk style event plus several bonus novelties and side events just for fun. For the Woods Walk you'll need to carry your possibles with you on a path through the, well, the woods!

Traditional black powder and flintlock or percussion actions with iron sights only for this event; no modern in-line actions or scoped rifles please.

Depending on turnout, we may add a trade blanket just for fun. We'll send out a signal (email) as we get closer to the event.

If you have questions, please let @Windini know! This will be a friendly event with a focus on fellowship and fun.

Thanks, Tim, for your guidance on setting this up as well for a great event name!

This isn't intended to be a historical reenactment or period-specific rendezvous, but if you want to get in the spirit and/or garb of a particular era, you are welcome to do so. I may, or may not, have ordered a shirt for this event. Not Seinfeldian, but not entirely 21st century, either.

Also, for those of you from a little farther away who may be concerned about getting there in time for an 8:30AM start, you are welcome to camp on site the night before. There is a nice grassy area near the pond to set up in, with room for tents or medium-sized campers.

Feel free to message me any questions. We're still putting the finishing touches on the plan, but if I can't make up an answer, I'll find one!

Hope to see you there.

Would this flintlock with a peep sight be acceptable for your event?

Love the idea , I will not be able to make this one, but I’ll keep an eye out for other ones in the future.
Been looking for an excuse to buy an older style smoke pole and revolver to go with it

any pistol targets?
This event was designed as a rifle shoot, so not necessarily...

But if you're going to shoot pistol, we insist you have to engage the 150 yard target with it as well.

Plenty of spots still open!

A reminder: registration for this event is through Practicescore.

We don't have a day-of-event registration option. If that's a problem, let me know and we'll find a way to get you on board!

If you're like me and dread more spam from an online account, you should be fine with Practicescore. In the 3+ years I've been on I've never received any spam/ads/notices/updates. All I get is registration confirmations and payment acknowledgments.

Sounds like a blast! Good luck to all the competitors!

Can I drink beer and watch? 😂

I announced this to our team at the last match and we may have even more takers.
Thanks Dave! I appreciate your spreading the word & look forward to meeting you.

I just posted it on the Muzzleloading Forum as well.

"But Windini," you say, "I don't have rifle that meets these requirements!"

(ahem)

I'm gonna try and make it, I've got an extra rifle also. I am willing to loan both out if I can't make it. @Windini let me know if you need them. Also will there be a shotgun portion, got one of those too

Oh, this sounds awesome! do we have to pick either flint or percussion?
Either is fine, but yes; it's designed as a "1-gun" match. There is a box to check on the registration page, but no-one will bust your chops if you choose A then shoot with B on Match Day.

It is a VERY informal match! We'll each be keeping our own scores, no time limit save hunger, and we're not part of an official organization or competition circuit.

It'd be great if you could join us! I know folks would like to meet you and hear about your trek towards the MLAIC championship.

My father is driving down from Michigan to join us. He’s been into the “rendezvous” scene since the ‘70s and has built dozens of rifles. All by hand, with practically no power tools. He’s built every thing from light weight .32 squirrel guns and “table” guns up to 28# chunk guns. I plan on doing a bit of bragging on him and displaying his handiwork during the event.

Here we are at the Sgt York shoot a couple years back.

If people want to come out but don't have a rifle let me know. I can supply some additional rifles.

Ok, everyone who is Muzzleloader Curious but on the fence because you don't have the gear:

@Tim
@heavydoc
@Windini
@Currituck Kid

have all offered to loan a rifle! In addition, it looks like we'll have some very experienced shooters coming, who will undoubtedly be willing to offer tips, advice & coaching.

So come on out!

I'm expecting to get my $$s worth from the mandatory show and tell at this event. I have an older piece myself that I'm bringing to maybe get some help with.

Not for nothing….speaking as the “practiscore monkey” in this deal, I’m sure @Windini will sleep better at night when some of these “I’ll be there!” turn into actual registrations! 😀

Hit that link in the 1st post!

I feel attacked,
I registered. I hit percussion. But I may switch it up the day of to flintlock. I haven't decided which gun I'm going to use. I may even use one that I'm finishing up now so this would be its first time out.
