Dropped my phone last month and spider webbed the screen. Wasn't an issue at the time. Well last night the screen quit. I went today to get a new phone, but none of my old text messages transferred. Is there any way they can be retrieved by a non-tech person easily? Or are they gone. I had a few months worth of a text conversation that is/was important to me and would like to get it back.

Some brands have software to transfer files to a PC via USB cable. Samsung Smart Switch is one such program.

Interested in this. I smashed my phone and tried a couple of programs to retrieve info. Most seem to require the screen to be active which is the problem in the first place. Watching this one.

if you weren't already backing your phone up to a PC or cloud and your screen no longer works you're going to have a lot of trouble getting to that information. Have you priced a repair for the broken screen?

What type of phone

I now back all text messages up in the cloud. I hope there is someone or some program that could recover this. I know it sounds funny, but they are centomental to me.

I never even thought of or considered repair....gonna look into that tomorrow after work.

Check and see if Google auto backs up your texts. Should be saved in your gmail account, if so.

I of course turned that on AFTER the fact on the new phone. Just gonna have to wait till a replacement screen is available.

Yeah, here's the problem:
You could connect it to your computer, and get the information. The problem is, you'd need to select on your phone, to change it from "charging" to "file transfer," so that's a no-go wothout a working screen.

You could use a mobile forensics company to get on, and get the info. But they'd be expensive and, if the phone died, turned off, it's gonna be hard to get past the unlock screen to get the info.

So, yeah, you'd need a working screen, unfortunately.

I think thats the one but you should dig a lot deeper than I did

That's so close, but no cigar. But, I may just wait and keep checking. Eventually one has to be available. And that video was great. Thanks.
