Remember, when a movie grosses, say, "500 million," the movie theaters get a cut of that, so they're getting about 250 million. And don't forget marketing roughly doubles the cost of a movie.
2023 -
Ant Man: Quantomania - Lost $125 million.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 - $841 million on a break even of ~$750 million, so only $90 profit.
Little Mermaid - Lost $20-$100 million
Elemental - Lost $40 million

There was a Bloom County comic in which the dad was reading Snow White and the seven dwarfs, the kids complained that the dad was out of touch with the culture, dad got mad and was like "fine, Pitch Black and the seven big honkeys". It was prescient for the mid-80s.
 
I know studios love summer releases, but honestly if I were Disney I’d sit on these a while. With the Hollywood writers and actors on strike, there will be a lag where nothing new is in the TV or movie pipeline. That will be a good time to release a new movie.
