For the last 10 years or so, I have actively avoided religion….
I was raised baptist, baptized in 2012 or so, and once I went through my divorce I spiraled, filling the emptiness with booze mostly, making the seven deadly sins a checklist….
I never could fill that void, just felt empty.
My youngest, on the weekends I have him, would occasionally ask…”daddy, are we going to church Sunday?” “If we have time buddy.” Was my typical response.
I finally hit the bottom…had all I could stand. Work stress, home stress… gave it all to the Lord, and begged forgiveness. I took the boy to church, started reading the bible again, and doing a daily devotional.
So here I am… I can’t say it was like flipping a switch, but I’m working on my personal relationship with God, and to be a better husband and daddy.
I wanted to share, not for pats on the back, or welcome back to the flock…but to encourage anyone in a similar situation, or any situation where you feel like hope is lost, you can always turn to Jesus.
