I would love to have one of these, price is great, too. Do I need one? No, probably not but the looks are cool.

I guess technically I could have that inside the car since it is presently classified as a pistol so my NC CHP covers that. That would be a nice bit of firepower to have handy. Considering the future of pistol braces I am not so sure who that will go however.

I swore I wouldn't add any more AR's to my lineup, then Aero ran a sale on bare lowers dirt cheap a few years ago that I couldn't pass up, so I've built 4 more.
NOW I'm done. :)

Everybody needs a pistol marked lower....just so you can have short uppers on hand.

What does the first half of that have to do with the second?
Is it not still a rule that you can't have a short bbl upper on hand if all you have are rifle lowers? Since doing so would put in in possession of an SBR.

You can’t have a short upper without a legal way to use it.

But (at a federal level, and here in NC), having a “pistol marked” lower holds no legal weight. A lower built with a brace, or without a brace/stock, is all you need.

You can build a pistol from any lower, or a rifle from any lower (even one marked pistol).

(The “pistol marked” part of the sentence is what I was questioning…should’ve mentioned that specifically)

I didn't know that, I was under the impression the the lower had to be marked as a pistol.

Nope.

Not to say I don’t have two of them. They’re the two that travel concealed with me the most. Thought it might help convince Johnny Law that doesn’t actually know the law that it was legal to have concealed.

But the other 4-5 AR pistols I have are just “regular” lowers.

There are a few states that have screwy rules, which is why I added the “federal, and here in NC” part.

I’d best a majority if people don’t even know pistol-marked lowers exist.

Ok, but if that's so, then why are any of the lowers marked as "pistol" if it doesn't matter?

You bring them concealed because as pistols that is permissible since you have a CHP?

In some (very few) states you have to register them as pistol vs rifle…but even there I’m not sure that the marking matters.

Similar to the fact you could build a 6.8, or a 300BLK, or a 9mm, or anything else you wanted on a lower marked 5.56.

Yes.

One I carry in a backpack. One is in the truck when I travel. I’d argue it’s “stored” and not “concealed”…but it is in the cab.

Unless it's an registered SBR. I could only list one caliber for my SBR. Feds sent the paperwork back because I listed 9mm and 300 BO under caliber.

That kind goes back to my orginal post, that's an awesome piece of compact extra firepower to have.

Correct. A Form 1 is to make a firearm. It’s a one-time act. You can only build an SBR as a single caliber at the time you make it. Same goes for barrel/overall lengths. But you could’ve filed it in any caliber or lengths you wanted. And after the fact, you can swap it to any caliber/lengths you prefer.

They used to accept “multi” on the forms, but that stopped years ago.

The one in the truck is a 5.7x28: 6” barrel with a silencer tucked inside the rail. 50rd mags. So with the one mag installed, a round in the chamber, and three spare mags…I have 201 rounds of blue-tipped goodness. 😁

That ought to stop the Zombie horde.

I posted this a few days ago but ultimately ended up putting together my own. I just wasn't comfortable with PSA. I have one of their weapons which has been great, but it was bought years back before they really ramped up production and became the "quantity over quality" producer they've become.

I want to be able to trust my life with anything I own, and I just wasn't content with this one.

I ended up doing basically the same build, but with Aero, BCM, and Colt parts. I did buy the BCG from PSA as a Toolcraft Nitride Carpenter 158 Blem.

When did they do that?
I remember when they had some problems years ago, but they got better... I thought it went along with them buying all sorts of smaller companies so they could have more control over output and consistency...

Seeing the poor workmanship on some of the rifles recently, horrible customer service responses, utter and complete failures on their AK's, I'll pass. It seems very hit or miss with them.

I don't think it's their goal to screw anyone, and I think they probably want to make a good.product, but it looks like they're just trying to get too big too fast.
