Have you ever had a song that gives you goosebumps every time you hear it? I have a couple.

“Sound of Silence” Disturbed

At the 3:11 mark until the end of the song.

“Hallelujah” Pentatonix

At the 3:48 mark until the end of the song.

And “Time to Say Goodbye” Bocelli and Brightman

At 3:22 until the end.

I think Chad posted that a year or two ago, and it blew me away. We used to sing that song in chorus class in Charlotte shortly after Simon and Garfunkle released it. What a GREAT song.

I haven't heard the third one, but the first two - heck yes.

Thanks so much!! My Ole Pard Billy Smith the Beach Music King WNMB Ocean Drive, S.C. [I was on his show every morning for 10 years as R.D. Neck] signed off every day with a version of this.........you brought back some wonderful memories....they played it at his funeral......

So is it the words or the music? Is there a certain part of the song that gives you goosebumps or the whole thing?
Both of course. But the lyrics haunt me. I am not a combat veteran, but have seen what it’s done to friends and family. Uncles that drank themselves to death or hid what they had to do, only to have their kids learn about them after a funeral, a brother who hasn’t been right since…

And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay
I looked at the place where me legs used to be
And thanked Christ there was nobody waiting for me
To grieve, to mourn, and to pity

The “Star Spangled Banner” is another one that when sung true (and by true I mean without a lot of runs and changes). Best I heard lately was by a teenager at a Carolina Hurricanes game. He just sang it. No fancy adlibs. The song is absolutely beautiful as it is and he did it justice.

Pisses me off for somebody to put the "Whitney Houston" run on our anthem.

These two do a nice job (imho) on Sound of Silence:

Same here…government has plenty of faults, but the country don’t.

Anyone born here won the f*ing lottery.

Sidenote... actually saw a guy playing acoustic and singing solo in a restaurant one night. He did a melodic, acoustic rendition of angel of death, and no one acted like they had a clue. He got a golf course applause upon completion. I was laughing to myself...

As far as a “song” … here’s one you will recognize but may not fully know …

When we were in the depths of the last recession, and I was winding down my business against my will, with kids still in college, I was so stressed out I could only listen to classical music (and drink large quantities of scotch). Although Claude Debussy was late to the game, he CERTAINLY qualifies, and in particular Clair de Lune.
