Took a trip the other day up to Ashe County to have a look around and one thing I saw were dead skunks all over the place. During a couple hour trip I must have see 15 or so dead skunks ranging from been on the road a while to make you eyes water just happened.

Is March 'hot time in the country' for these buggers?

I must have seen 50 of them last week in Arkansas! They must be downright suicidal.

RIP 🦨

I’ve noticed the same. It’s partly due to it being their breeding season right now.

We have been noticing over the last several years, they start getting hit around the last week of January and then continues heavy through mid to late February. Certain areas around here, it's not uncommon to see 3 or 4 hit at a time.

I was surprised to hardly ever see or smell a skunk after moving from the west. We had lots.

But lately I've seen quite a few road kills!

Yep it’s their mating season. Like deer during the rut. Guys running around acting stupid and thinking with their….. well parts God gave them. And it’s not the brain 🤣

We once had skunks here on Oak Island, but I have not seen one in years. I suppose they disappeared when the dunes were leveled for houses. I have also never seen a skunk up on the farm in Winnabow. My wife grew up in Greenville, NC, and had never smelled one until I took her over to Tennessee. She was not amused with their delicate aroma.

Along these lines, I have also noticed a sad number of hawks dead along the roads the last two days. Anyone else seeing this?
