Is the site being hacked? Every once in a while I get half the letters in a post as straight blue lines with a letter in there every so often. Is it my Mac or is the site having problems?

It's called a PEBKAC or ID TEN T error. In other words, it's you.
Actually, it sounds to me like you're not getting all the data. Maybe you have s bad connection or too much junk in your cache. Try clearing it.
