At the range I noticed that if the light gets just at the right angle in the sky coming toward the muzzle end of the optic that I get a whole bunch of red dot reflections in my green dot Holosun SCS. Annoying but no big deal.... at the range.

At the match today, I came around the back of a car to engage targets in the early morning light and *blamo* I had 4 'dots' showing up and I couldn't find the actual green dot at all. I dropped back to the irons real quick but it was really surprising to have the optic become less than useless.

Is this a known thing, the 'just the right angle' phenomenon?

Haven't seen it on any of my rifle optics at all in any light level / direction.

Yes, USPSA shooters have complained of the same problem.

ok cool, so I don't have another defective optic on my hands. :)

I remember at one USPSA match in the rain the optics guys were complaining about seeing 'a dozen' dots due to reflections of the water drops on the lens, and the fact that the dots changed between shots as water got flung off, but never anything about the sun.
