Wondering why there aren't more .380 solutions out there. Wouldn't it be slightly quieter than a 9mm?
Right. .22LR I get, but why not .380? It's not an obscure caliber and plenty of good hosts out there. How come there isn't a market?
Name a good host.
I'm having a hard time thinking of one.
Very few folks handload 380.
Minimum to maximum powder charge is silly tight, like .3 gr with titegroup.
I for one would not miss 380 if it was discontinued tommorow.
Glock 42
Sig P238
Beretta 84
Walt PPK/S
LCP
Bodyguard
Browning BDA
I have not seen any factory threaded barrels or aftermarket ones. They're all good hosts though.
I'm trying to tell you they are not good hosts. Too tiny. A normal sized 9mm suppressor, even with a booster, is too heavy for such a low powered cartridge and short slide. They would be jam o matics.
There are all aluminum lightweight micro cans on the market that might work.
Exactly. I've seen custom threading jobs, so it's definitely something that can be done.
@Lee_Dingle had his pm9 threaded. That's getting in the small size.
ADCO will thread damn near any pistol using a barrel extension. $250 per job, just send them the slide and barrel.

Would it cycle OK with a fixed barrel gun, such as a PPK?
I the issue with 380 is that most of the guns that fire 380 are either blowback guns (Walther PPK, PK380, Beretta Cheetah/Browning BDA380, etc.), or short recoil micro-pistols (Ruger LCP, Kahr P380, etc.).
The unlocked breech of a blowback gun is not a particularly good match for a suppressor because it's relatively loud. And most of them are fixed-barrel affairs, so replacing the barrel with a threaded barrel isn't quite as easy as with a short-recoil Browning-type action.
The short-recoil micro-pistols would handle terribly with most full-size 9mm suppressors, and the cycling would probably be suspect.
Agreed, but there are some cool micro cans that would be right at home on it.
Most if the micro cans are wiped or designed to be shot wet (or both), so if hearing safe is your goal, it will be short lived.
I unfortunately don't have a 380 pistol, if I did it would probably be a suppressor host. I can say that my PM9 is a great host. When just holding the pistol with the suppressor mounted I was worried it might feel front heavy, but that is not the case at the range. The balance is great. I am telling myself that it would be even better with an Omega 9K, but we will see.
I hear the Glock 42 and 43 make great suppressor hosts, but those are on the larger side.
Lastly I cannot say enough good things about working with Steve at ADCO. He is responsive to all my questions and his work is great.
