I have a dead air nomad. 1.75" diameter 6.5" long. Looking to get a suppressor cover to protect my legs during transition drills when the nomad is on my AR or AK. What cover are y'all using? Or what cover have you used and it melted?

I want to give one of these a go

I have a silencerco somethingorother for my Sandman S, but I find that with proper sling use, even if running, during transitions, etc it's a non issue for me so I try not to use it too much for this style shooting since I'm probably shooting high volume drills or whatever and it keeps the can hot AF for longer.

The only time I find it particularly useful is for shooting at distance since it helps with mirage.

Fwiw I probably wouldn't recommend the silencerco cover and wouldnt buy it again. Just feels a bit cheap. Hope there's a thing to gleam from this ramble.

Armageddon Gear is my go to for my precision rig suppressor mirage covers.

For my Sandman on the AR's I use the MGM cover wraps for that high temp application:

I use this one, works great.

You only bought it because its name.

I was looking at the "HTP" because my aunt sent me a $100 Amazon gift card but wasn't sure if it was worth stepping up to the corset model. It does look cooler 🤣

Seems if some of the suppressor covers y'all are using works then the HTP should be way more than I need. I was worried about the HTP having Velcro but some of those models above use plastic for the cable tightening.

2nd this suggestion. AG makes great covers. I have multiple including a nomad and it's been great.

I’m not gonna lie, I went with the corset because it looks way cooler and more operator AF than the HTP…..and yes @Get Off My Lawn i did like the name

Check out "rifles only". I purchased the HAD to run on a 11.5 5.56. Very well made amd doesn't slide around when firing. The HAD comes with hi temp cord to wrap around barrel to help secure cover, that's what sold me.

I really like that design. I assume you have ran it with a high volume of fire?

No continuous mag dumps. But fast enough to get it hot enough you don't want to touch it even with cover. But not so hot I worry about it bumping my leg or setting it down on something.

Bumping this thread from the dead

I took a rifle class on Sunday. Shot around 400 rounds through my 13.7 with a nomad and the below linked suppressor cover. At the end of the class a couple buddies and I used the instructors full auto lower and dumped 90 rounds downrange. Suppressor cover did not catch fire and did it's job. It definitely helped on keeping the heat away from my legs and at one point the cover tried to walk forward some I was able to grab the cover and slide it rearward with just the pig gloves I had on at the time without melting my glove. Instructions say to use some of the corset rope to tie around the barrel so the cover doesn't work loose. I did not follow that part obviously.

This.

I have been using these covers from Rifles Only for almost a decade.
The HAD is good for rapid semi/full auto fire.
The Skinny cover is really only good for bolt guns or slow fire, I have burned through one with a few mag dumps.

Prices are a good bit lower than coletac so I was shocked it made it through the class okay even though it was fundamentals at times there was some good rapid fire. And the full auto fire just solidified they are a good purchase.
