I went and put a down payment on a can today. They suggested the surefire sps 300 because it will work with 308 and 5.56. it's made for specifically for the 300 blk out. I have no interest in getting in to that caliber. I'm thinking I should have got the socom 7.62 instead. Do you think I should change it out? First can to btw.

So I have the 300 sps and have used it across 5.56, 300 blk, and .308. I really like mine. I do not own the 7.62 rc2 but from people I have talked to that have both they prefer the 300 sps for most applications. The 300 sps is approximately .5in shorter than the 7.62 rc2 and 4oz lighter. I thought there was a 16in .308 barrel minimum for the 300 sps but looking at surefires site it does not say anything about it.

Surefire is not known for being the quietest or lightest but they are built like tanks.

If you have a place to shoot I can bring my 300 sps for you to try and see what it sounds like with 5.56 (11.5 in and 16in) and .308 (18in).
