Tasco custom shop

Ended up with this thing in a trade. Sorry, I cant take Tasco seriously but after a little research I found some positive reviews. Its big, like too big. The sunshade is excessive. Its a 8-40x50. The parallax wheel is huge. Any history on this thing? Anyone know anything about them? Auction sites have it valued a lit higher than I would have expected. From what I've read its Japanese glass

Looks like what they call a "field target scope " used in 22 and air rifle. That's about as much as I know but I know somebody who would know more. I can ask tomorrow.
