Come On...we Both know better than that...If that was true, you'd have one.I'd really like to have
Would you believe it if I told you I'm waiting I'm debating solar for the house first?Come On...we Both know better than that...If that was true, you'd have one.
My partner Michael can give you a lot of info on that. He is heating, cooling and running 12,000 square feet and running a farm and another 1,200 square foot cabin completely on solar. He Is Off The Grid. He sells the power company power!!! Send him a PM he'll help any way he can.Would you believe it if I told you I'm waiting I'm debating solar for the house first?

Not sure this is his long term plan. That outfit is rated Far above it's worth. Someday the math will catch up.I do not own one but have looking into them. They do not know how to build cars. The build quality is early 1990s Hyundai quality. Everything from body panels to interior fit. The concept is great but the execution is poor. They need to hire someone who actually knows how to make cars to take over production. Until they do that I wouldn't touch one.

I am guilty of trying to get the best of any "thing" I am in the market for BUT with God sitting on his throne in heaven listening to me, I swear I have never given a fat baby's fart for what Anybody thought about what I bought. I buy shit for ME. Folks trying to fit in by making the right purchase are to be pitied.

Model 3s cost less than a new minivan... I'm interested in telsas because I'm about to drop money on solar and potentially geothermal so it would be extremely nice to take advantage of the free go juice for the Tesla. Also, I'm a geek by trade and the electronics and features are pretty awesome. To me the only people who are buying them right now are people who want bragging rights and the air of Tesla ownership. I have no idea what "he" really wants to do with the car end of his business but if he does not fix the production end of the business he is going to get overtaken by his competitors. I personally think Volkswagen AG will be eating his lunch in 5 years.
A friend of mine who runs a great detailing shop in the area says the Tesla 3 owners are the worst. Most of the have stretched to get into the car and do not have the $$$ to properly protect is but what to protect their identity ride if you know what I mean.

Have you seen this about the model 3, the price increased

And no matter who comes along Tesla will have 8+ years of data from real time drivers ahead of them. In this day data is the new oil. They did a drop, then raised by 400 dollars.
Still a young company. But this car intrigued me. The auto pilot for highway cruising and well. No gas to put in it.

Such is life. I don't feel I should be paying for other people's kids.I don't think I should be paying for other peoples fancy cars or solar panels but that's just me.

I don't understand how the cost of electricity is not considered when so many love the "no gas" part of these cars. How much $$ of electricity versus $$ for gas per 100 miles is actual figures? If you pay $100 a month for gas now and pay $0 for an electric car yet your electric bill goes up $100 a month, don't you lose part of the appeal of an electric car?
It's highly unlikely that I'd drive coast to coast. I would drive it to see family out of the normal range where I'd hit the supercharger station for 15 mins. This would give me enough juice to get where I was going then fully charge it there. But can you go on a cross country trip in a Tesla? How long would it take to get from coast to coast in one?

Why not both? I spend my fair share on smiles per gallon.Nope. I'd rather spend $65K on a Challenger Hellcat. I don't car if the 0-60 time is faster for the Tesla. I'm just not interested in Eco-jewelry.
Anyone explored the new electric Silverado pickup??

Most people average around 15 a month in an increase in electric.
It
The figures I seen, in 200,000 miles with a Tesla you pay around 7k in electric, in gas your looking at 14k.
Not figuring in oil changes.
Thanks guys! There are some variables around how many kW of electricity it takes to travel 100 miles (because ambient temp and vehicle weight varies), but the US dept. of energy uses 34 kW as a rule of thumb. Electricity in NC is a little over $0.13 per kWh, so the cost per mile is about $0.045. 25 mpg at $2.50/gal. is $0.10/mile. EVs also don't need oil changes/spark plugs/air filters (other than cabin air), transmission fluid, etc. that make up normal maintenance.
Thanks guys!
It seems to be a 50% + savings to operate. Do you need to change/replace the batteries every 100k miles or do they last for years? That cost would offset the savings if they do run down.
Any other costs not associated with gas cars?
If you save a lot of money monthly in fuel and maintenance, that needs to be figured into the higher cost.
He is a marketing genious just not sure he is a good business person long term.
I can't afford either anyway. The most expensive vehicle I ever owned was my 2010 Rubicon when you add in the ~$7K of modifications done. Why not both? I spend my fair share on smiles per gallon.
