Texas DMV (they call it DPS) opened up and I made an appointment to get my driver's license on Wednesday. As soon as I got back home, I enrolled in an online License To Carry course. I couldn't fast forward through 4 hours of video, so I played the videos with the sound off until I reached the end. I took the test and correctly answered all 25 questions.

Today, I did the proficiency portion of the test. I went to a local constable's range to shoot. He was a very nice guy and we got along great. He was telling me about the course and what was expected. He said that I had to pick up all of my brass when I was finished. I took my trusty old Model 10 S&W and a Glock 19. When I heard about picking up brass I decided to shoot the Model 10.

After 15 rounds he told me, "I've seen enough. We'll just be wasting ammo from here on out. But, if you want to keep shooting, go ahead. I do like to see you shooting that thing double action, though." I offered to let him shoot it and we shot a few more rounds. We finished up, he gave me my paperwork, and I left. Now, I have to get fingerprinted and submit the paperwork and wait. He did tell me that my SC CWP would cover me until my Texas LTC was delivered.

Welcome to the club. This reminds me, I need to submit for my Texas LTC renewal as mine expires in a few months.

That ragged old model 10 still shoots? A man rich enough to live in Texas should not bee seen in public with nothing less than a shiny nickel S&W!! BYW, was that the Glock that you found under the bed under mysterious circumstances??

I'm not sure if it was the same Glock or not. They all look the same.

You know, I'm not sure if they'll let you back in with that Sig. Since I got here the standards have increased.

Texas is a lot like here!!!!!!!!!!!!
This constable would have fit right in with our Battery Oaks crowd. He was a very pleasant guy and he gave me some good information.

Between the two guns, I believe you made the right choice.

After all, you did wanna pass the test. :p

It was purely selfishness on my part, I didn't want to bend over to pick up brass.
