Wouldn't it be a hoot if the libs tried to do the same thing to other civil rights groups. The uproar would be heard around the world.
No it wouldn't.
Freedom isn't all that popular anymore in these United States.
The ACLU is starting to debate when it defends Free Speech based on the content of that speech. There is no outcry.
Gun control is openly talked about - and the only outcry is from a very vocal minority.
Police have forcibly removed innocent families from their homes and used them as 24 hour staging areas for police use. Courts have upheld the practice. There is no outcry.
The government - federal, State, and local - surveils and gathers massive amount of data on every American man, woman, and child. They electronically strip search, and in many cases grope/sexually assault men, women, and children by the thousands. They rummage through their belongings. All without a warrant. There is little to no outcry.
We have calls for the removal of Rights of individuals based on government lists, or based simply on calls to police. It's been established that police may seize money and property without conviction of a crime, and that they get a cut of all cash seized extrajudicially. Little to no outcry.
The government has detained and killed American Citizens after proceedings of secret courts, with secret evidence and secret witnesses. When the accused have asked to see the evidence against them, or confront those witnesses, they have been denied. No juries. No outcry.
The federal government charges those acquitted by State and county courts when the federal government wanted a conviction. When even that avenue looks uncertain, they ambush and kill American Citizens along the roadways of America. The outcry comes only from a vocal minority.
Excessive bail is often set in high profile cases - especially where there is no real victim other than the woundedwpride of the State for defiance of the law. No outcry.
The federal government has stepped so far outside the bounds set for it in the Constitution, and treaded into areas reserved for the States or the People. Little to no outcry. In fact, most people squabble over who should get to control Leviathan rather than the fact that Leviathan is immoral and dangerous to a Free People.
Thinking the majority of Americans care enough about their Rights that there would be a groundswell of anger is wishful thinking at best.
