I've got a Buck Mark today which is one of my favorite to shoot and most accurate pistols - it's a Contour URX 7.25 inch model. Current:

I'll soon be starting the process of getting a silencer to use on my CZ 457 .22 rifle and would like a pistol to use it on as well. Likely a Dead Air Mask but will need to do a bit more research.

Although I haven't looked into the possibility of a threaded replacement barrel, suspect the contoured bull barrel may make that more difficult and it's already a fairly heavy & long pistol. I'd rather keep the current one and get a new model that's threaded and a bit lighter. I know there are other hosts I could consider, but I already have 20+ magazines for the Buck Mark and am entirely happy with my current one.

Thinking about the Browning Buck Mark Plus Vision 22 LR like the below - anyone have experience with one of these? They're 27 oz compared to 39 oz of my current.

Nearly all my pistols are 'black' and I'm also finding myself looking at some of the fancy versions as well. Not quite BBQ guns but definitely flashier.

There is an Americana model that is a bit too flashy for me though, lol https://www.browning.com/products/f...k-plus-vision-americana-suppressor-ready.html

I have not had good luck with Buckmarks. That seems to square with the experience of other Rimfire competitors that I’ve been shooting with for years.

But it is important to note that we are atypical shooters in that we put a LOT of rounds downrange every year. I’ve found the Buckmark firing pin to be too thin and it will peen pretty quickly if you accidentally dry fire it. I went through several firing pins in mine before giving up and selling it.

I like the Vision better than the other ones based on aesthetics alone. For me, the continuous lines of the barrel look better with a suppressor than the jagged lines. But that’s juts my two cents.

I know you said you have tons of magazines but I am a massive Rimfire dork and can’t help but give my opinion. Even though my opinion is worth exactly what ya paid for it: nothing.

Every rimfire pistol has issues either from a price point perspective or a feature/function perspective.

Ruger Mark 4: great pistol once you replace a whole bunch of parts. Triggers suck out of the box. Also kinda pricey at $550 for a stock gun. Aftermarket parts are incredibly abundant though. A Volquartsen kit is something like $175.

Smith and Wesson Victory: best bang for the buck, probably. Except they are really heavy. You can buy a replacement barrel and they lighten up. Or get the performance center model. Trigger is great out of the box too. Hard to beat a Victory for plinking.

Buckmarks: great pistols out of the box with good triggers. But seem to require replacement parts more often than other options. NOT a big deal if you’re the occasional plinker though. I still own one Buckmark rifle.

Volquartsen. If you want to cry once for a suppressor host, this is it. Right out of the box it needs nothing. Amazing trigger, sights, ergos, etc. But dang they aren’t cheap. I’ve done the math and since I’m the aforementioned dork that likes to tinker and tweak things, it is about the same difference for me if I just suck it up and buy a Volquartsen.

If you like optic versions and don’t mind a 4.5” barrel, the new Scorpion X is a game changer. You can mount a ton of optics with no riser at all. It’s freaking awesome.

My Scorpion X for competition.

My Buckmark rifle. I mean there’s a Buckmark in there somewhere.

If your favorite of your “children” is your Buck Mark … and you already have a bunch of mags and such …it would be hard to say switch platforms. The only way I would think about switching would be some decent trigger time behind the ones you are seriously considering … for feel of grip angle and such, trigger position and pull, etc. TO ME I chose my 22/45’s because I am an old geezer who loves my 1911’s. I have other rimfires and love shooting them but the major percentage of the time is spent with my 22/45 and 22 Take Down basically because it just feels right in my hand.

The TX22 is the model name I wasn’t sure of when you stopped by today. 😁

I have the the first pistol with a Romeo 5 installed. I also have two other buckmark pistols and the carbine. One was short barrel that I ordered a Tactical Solution Traillite barrel for to use with the silencer. Only issue I have had was the extractor on the carbine when new. Sent back to Browning. They repaired tested and replaced one of the medalions in the grip that was missing. I like them.

Well after some protracted research I decided to take the advice of @Studentofthegun and picked up a Volquartsen Mamba-x. Got the 4.5 vs 6 inch since I eventually plan to get a suppressor for it. Have not been out to shoot it yet.

Model I got came with an Meprolight Micro RDS optic I plan to replace with a Holosun 507 Competition once I can find one, mainly due to size and aging eyes. now I’m going to have to do some research on magazines to get a few extra.

I believe you will be very pleased with your purchase sir.

At Saturdays match at DPRC, Volquartsen pistols were used by the top 3 finishers. It’s really hard to argue against it as the best Rimfire pistol there is for almost any purpose. Plinking or competing.

All of my VQ pistols are insanely accurate suppressed or unsurpressed.

Let us know how it goes at the range!

My Scorp has been changed up since the last picture.

Also, I must say...

You seem like a like minded individual based on this photo alone. There's the Scorpion, obviously. But you also have good taste in audio equipment based on the fact that you've got (what looks like) a set of Audioengine A2+ wireless speakers.

I'm sitting in front of a couple of Kanto TUKs on some ISO Acoustic stands. A Topping D50s DAC sits between those and the Mac.

Lol good eye. Mine are wired A2+ run through their D1 DAC and also running the AudioEngine S8 sub under the desk. Have had them since 2015 and they've been great!

Bigger setup in the same room with me though with Sonus Faber speakers, higher end SVS sub, etc. when I want to crank it up a bit more!

edit looked up the Kanto‘s and they look pretty great!
