THIS SUUX

Doesn’t matter where it is—I've never known a mall to be particularly enjoyable unless you’re 13 years old and smell like Axe shower wash. Or looking for a rival gang member to show ‘em what’s up.

I am at a point in life I really dislike malls.
Ive been in them maybe 3 times in teh past 2 years.
Two of those times for the same thing - buy suit and pick it up from alteration the next day.

I feel for you man

In my younger years I used to laugh when I saw older men sitting there on a bench staring at nothing or reading a book.

I get it now.

I haven't been to one this decade I think. And my wife thanks me for it.

OPSEC, man!!

If it's Carolina Mall in Concord (NOT Concord Mills - that was bad information), there's a Revolutionary War veteran and his wife buried on the premises. The grave is only marked by a couple of field stones (until we install a new marker next Saturday), but it's there.

So....at least in that particular case, there's a little bit of interesting history.

Lol I was at Southpark that time the roof collapsed in heavy rain. I think I was at Showmar's eating a cheeseburger pita lol.

As I understand it, it is the old Misenheimer Family Cemetery where lies Rev War veteran Jacob Misenheimer and his wife Elizabeth. It is a fenced in area beside the Belk, with the gate part of the brick wall of the mall to get in (they essentially built the mall around it). Next Saturday, 07 September 2019 at 10 am the Sons of the American Revolution will be holding a Gravemarking at the location, with a new headstone/marker and a Patriot marker for Jacob.

Color Guard in Continental and Militia uniforms, it will also include a musket volley salute. A lot of the family/descendants from all over the country will be there as well.

South Park

I was 16 or so when that mall opened, it was a big deal. Used to go there with some of my teenage friends to walk around, which at that time was a pretty cool thing to do.

I seem to go there maybe once a year for some reason or another. A great place to people watch, it's the other end of the spectrum from Walmart.

I'm not seeing a Belk at Concord Mills Mall. There is one at Carolina Mall in Concord.

Let me check the address. The guy who organized it said Concord Mills today when I was at the Battle of Charlotte reenactment and saw him.

I'm thinking it has to be carolina mall.

Y'all are correct. Carolina Mall. I'm actually glad you guys said something....I'm the Master of Ceremonies for this thing and hauling all the flags and accoutrements for the Color Guard. When John told me Concord Mills, I wasn't even going to bother to look for directions because I know how to get there already. That would have been a minor disaster.

I will edit the posts upstream.

Minor detail. The important thing is you're doing a good deed that should have happened years ago.

It's only 4-5 exits up I-85. It's a small mall the Mexican restaurant is VERY good.

Well, you would be surprised how many Patriot Graves remain relatively unmarked, save for some field stones or a heavily weathered, nearly illegible 200 year old limestone marker. It's something the SAR and DAR are taking as a serious challenge, and there is an amazing effort underway to Mark and digitize the grave locations and the known history of each person who made a worthwhile contribution to the American Cause.

By November, I will have been involved in marking around 20 graves in the last 12 months. The biggest concentration I have seen in one cemetery is at Centre Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, NC. 35 Patriots are buried there. We placed a monument there last year with all of the names, and each of the graves has a Betsy Ross flags marking them individually.

@SPM when does the event happen and is it open to the public?
