Side note...I HATE that every video has music overlaid. Let us hear what (either) dude said! That actually makes a difference in this case. What threats were made or received?

Funny and well-deserved for sure.

But “warning shots” are an absolutely horrible idea in every circumstance.
 
The question must be asked as to what would have happened if the maggot porch pirate had run off with the package. I doubt that the gentleman with the rifle could have legally done much except watch the maggot run. Perhaps in Texas he could have blasted away, but I doubt most places would allow such actions.

If it came back via people taking care of some dumbass in their space, who took something that clearly wasn't to be taken. I'm good with it.

There would be much more civility in this world if consequences for ones actions occured during said actions...

That video has been around a bit. I’ve never seen this version with the music over top. Shouldn’t be too hard to find a different one.

I suspect you are correct. Having the long gun as he did, doesn't seem to be any different to me than if he had, had a handgun. He did not threaten with it but was simply prepared to respond with deadly force should it be justified by the porch pirate's actions. In this case, handled just fine.

Had the pirate run with the goods, in most states anyway, it would have been no bueno to shoot, though I will say I have no qualms about killing a thief and do not believe their "life" is worth more than my property that was purchased by the expenditure of part of my life.

I don't know, I'm kinda mixed on this one... A couple of shotgun blast in the air, as per presidential guidelines, would have had significant entertainment value.

The thing about warning shots is you need to make them look real and that you simply missed, and they got lucky, while you were still justified to shoot.
 
Not illegal, but not sure why he chambered a round on his way out the door.

Depending on the state, you might need one or both parties consent. Audio is actually more restricted than video.

Unrelated. I want to hear the conversation between the two (driver and porch thief). “You left me, man!”

They need to be made to ask themselves if their life is worth more or less than the property they want to steal.

The package was outside. All bets are off if the maggot goes inside. It should not make a difference but frequently does. They need to be taught to fear their potential victims.

it said it was in detroit. michigan has a pretty good castle doctrine in the laws ... not so good about letting you shoot through the door at girls pounding on your door late at night though. somebody learned that the hard way.
open carry of long guns is pretty well accepted up there too.
or at least it was until that whitmer lady took over. no telling what she's having cops do.
