Tomorrow War.

Yeah, when he's teaching in the classroom there's a video going on in the background about climate change and animals going extinct, like any of that mattered when you know that in 30 years the aliens are going to show up and wipe out humanity.

As for reloads there was one but the woman doing it was killed before she could complete it. The scene where they are running down the street before the bombing starts.

I'm still trying to figure out why the POS hera stocks vs standard since they bring the weapons with them, not get them in future. At least they could also bring their own firearms as well.

I think this clocks in at 2:18. Whew! Way too long and I'm pretty sure my IQ went down. Lots of time paradox issues.

Lots of issues. But I enjoyed it much more than most I have seen lately.

The guns were stupid. The Acog on a shorty with offset dot for killing giant aliens up close:
Basically the stupidest gun choice you can imagine when it comes to outfitting newbs.

Give the cannon fodder 870's and a pistol with one round!

Ok movie as long as you don't think too hard.

People from the future have the ability to ga back in time before the aliens arrive on seen. The best idea anyone can come up with is, send more cannon fodder?

It kinda pisses me off that they would make a movie like this when there are so many great sci-fi stories out there. Better thought out and researched plots and science in most any sci-fi book that you pull off the shelf than this movie.

I would love to see John Scalzis Old man's war made into a trilogy like the books.

Started it lastnight, finishing it tonight. So far I like it.

I though it was pretty good as long as you don't overthink it. Keep it simple "guns and aliens". One of my coworkers today said the acting was terrible! I said you watched it for the wrong reasons! :)

I watched it with my daughter and we had a good time for 2 + hours. I told her I hope she goes to MIT. I'm in no hurry to watch it again but I would.

Watched it with the wife. Straight up video game plot, had all the elements of a game too. I like games so it was fun to watch but I didn’t overthink it or have my expectations set too high.

what? where?
scalzi is fun.
i know netflix said they were looking to do it years ago... but where?

My wife and I liked it. They did have a plot device to make going to the future kind of make sense. They then threw that plot device right out of the window though due to time constraints.

Overall I liked it, was a pretty good ride. Didn't like how quickly they wrapped it up.

The sex scenes? When they first get the. New bodies they are pretty much having an orgy all around.
i am familiar with that, but that is certainly not what i was asking.
i was asking where the film version is, if it exists.

Lets start by saying this - IT'S A MOVIE.

Ok, once you understand that, it was a fun, enjoyable movie.
I liked it.

Stop being 'gun guys' and just be entertained

There’s talk of a sequel now.

The Tomorrow War 2: Forever War.

Hmmm…
That’s gonna get interesting, because “Forever War” is already a book. A pretty decent read. Gets a little wacky- they socially engineer everyone in the future to be gay so there is no unauthorized breeding, and the protagonist is the only straight guy left. Still, it hypothesizes time dilation pretty well; they are sent off on a mission, by the time they finish and get back it’s 100 years in the future, etc

I made up the “Forever War” part, but the sequel idea is legit. It did well enough to dump more money into. I hope they bring back Yvonne somehow!

Im just saying.

Here, here's the 'real' version of this movie.
Guy has a party, watches soccer with his family. Goes to teach high school the next day and complains to his colleagues about his lack-of-excitement kids. The end. Aliens never showed up. Time travelers never showed up.
Sound exciting? Yeah, welcome to my world.

You forgot the part where he does not get his dream job, and is just a regular schlub like the rest of us

since the alien war will have never happened, she'll play the part of the phonebook reader, and you'll still watch and be happy

no, no, he'd have to be going a month on leave without pay because the company screwed up, and then only give him half of one pay period when he comes back instead of all the vacation time he requested to cover loss of income. then he'd be like me the rest of us

I enjoyed it. It was just Aliens/Terminator/Back to the Future all jammed into one movie.

The lack of reloads was odd, and the guns were weird. But, movie. I just assumed that it was better to give untrained people a LOT of pew pew over trying to teach them precision.

If you think too much, any movie can be ruined. Just enjoy the pretty and the violence.

anyone know if Black Rifle Coffee paid for placement or if they got a freebee?

It’s hollyweird, nobody does anything for free…
But it’s Netflix, who are super woke and rabidly anti gun…
But BRC has proven themselves to be pretty woke too.

I made it thru half the movie before losing interest. Bad acting and video game plot. Best suited for a younger age base.

It's Amazon, not Netflix, just for clarification.

Ok, it was enjoyable, more so than a lot of movies I have seen recently. However, especially at the beginning I kept wondering how many of the sort that hang around here would tell them to go pound sand when it came to the global draft?

You forgot:

Let’s give civilians who have never touched a weapon a 10 minute training session on how to shoot an opponent in the neck and abdomen only on full auto, and drop them (literally) into a firefight where we expect them to conduct themselves like veteran operators for 7 days.
It's not like they didn't know who was being drafted in advance and they couldn't induct them and give tham several months of training? Also they had intel on the aliens and knew 5.56 wasn't enough. Why not 7.62 or .450? Why not some M203s? Grenades even? How about some plate body armor? The spikes only penetrated about half way through dry wall. Drones for scouting? No wonder they were losing.

I enjoyed it anyway.

Yeah, there are all sorts of "what ifs" we can throw...but the gist I got was that they were down to their last straw when they were able to get the jump bridge going, so its kinda like that scene in Enemy at the Gates where they just need to throw bodies at the problem to stop the bleeding. And I think the way I saw it, they had already blown through a lot of their standard military personel by this time, so all those fancy weapons and armor was already littering the ground in the future.
