Okay, so I like guns, okay? [emoji38]
But my day job is tower work. Almost 40 years in the business.

I am also a former HAM. That was me and my dad’s thing. After he died, I just had no desire to continue the hobby.

Anyway, PM me if you need my services.

If there was such a thing as a local/home every night tower crew, I’d be right back in a harness.

We’re home almost every night. 90% of our work is within 2-3 hours travel of Fayetteville. My threshold for hotel stay is 2 hour drive, depending on the scope of work.

RESPECT…. My limit now is a 30’ ladder despite having built houses and roofs for years. I’ve lost my appetite for height.

Nope, no way, nada, nein, nei! Legs lock up if I get 20’ off the ground.

But I did thoroughly enjoy zip lining at Zipquest a few years back. Go figure. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe you’re like my dad. Intense fear of heights, but has been a pilot for 50+ years. It only bothers him when there’s something going directly from him to the ground.

I love heights but I don't like edges.

I don’t even like being this tall. 😥

I never thought of it, but you make a great point. I also like flying. I also get anxious if I’m with people and they get near the edge or railing on something high. I’ve gotten a little better over the years, but if I have a choice my feet stay planted on the ground.

The mind is a funny thing. I climbed towers
for 8 years, rock climbed year prior to that, go skydiving, love flying, but went to Carowinds one time and rode the “drop zone”, and while the ride up didn’t faze me, the drop was unnerving and I still can’t understand why….

After graduating, took a job with a steel fabricating and erecting company. I climbed the I beams, bolted them up and on to the next level. Walked across 4 and 6 inch beams from side to side without a concern in the world. Now 10 to 15 feet up in a deer stand is plenty high for me.

The wait at the top is the part that caused me issues.

I’ve been rigging towers and stringing up antennas for almost 4 decades…since before I could drive. Dad had me in a Bashlin lineman’s belt at 14. Heights never bothered me. I always inspect my gear, and the rule in my company is “any doubt, throw it out” when it comes to PPE integrity.

I’m too old to and fat to climb anymore, except in extremely rare circumstances or training. I get shocked faces all around when I tell them they gotta “rescue” me off the stick!! [emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]
