Transfer prices went through the roof?

My old shop in Atlanta did free Transfers. They kept a stack of pmags next to the register for $10 out the door. Half of the people were cheapskate and would just come in and do a free transfer and Holler "see you next week" but the other half would pick up 1-4 mags as a thank you for the free transfer.
Dying breed that, now you'll need to make the payment on the owner's 2024 Ram TRX parked out back in one visit or you won't be allowed in the shops inner circle of preferred customers.

But yeah, it's the lights being kept on is the real concern here for gouging LGS owners.

What one might perceive as wealth, another understands it to be a living hell.

The only envy I possess is that of someone in better physical health than I.

Some of you are really cheap. We live in the hay day of gun stores. I remember in the dark days of Clinton how many LGS's closed. Your using their service to get your gun, if your deciding factor on LGS is how much they charge for a transfer then you probably don't spend that much there to begin with. Business have to pay bills, if you haven't noticed crap is really expensive lately. Support your local gun shop.
I do what I want.

-$20 Old North State Arms, 38 Diana del Silva Ct., Chapel Hill

This is still accurate and Clay is a great guy to deal with. He is home based and in the area of Cole Park Plaza. I use him all the time, highly recommended.

-$25 Davis Public Safety, 2466 CORPORATION PKWY, BURLINGTON

I have done a couple here, I don't know if $25 is still accurate, but they are easy to deal with and have reasonable hours (unlike a lot of shops that are closed on Monday).

Also, Ray's Supermarket in Moncure will do them for $30. The owner, Kevin, is the only guy there who can handle the paperwork. He is in and out, so it would probably be best to call and see what the timeline for pickup is before having something sent there. Ray's is a convivence store that sells everything (almost literally) that happens to also have an FFL, so gun selling is not their main business. The good news is that there is also a butcher shop in the store and for your $30 in addition to your transfer you get a pound of mild or hot ground sausage for free (no, I'm not kidding).

Chatham Arms in Pittsboro was doing transfers for $20 also, but he is in the process of moving to Randolph Co. (also a home based FFL) and as far as I know, is not doing transfers right now. He should be back online eventually.

I can tell you to steer clear of "$15 Quarter Horse Arms, 3059 Spanish Oak Hill Rd, Snow Camp" unless you have months to wait on him. He says he is a Class III dealer". It took 25 phone calls and messages left to get my shotgun transferred in just eight and a half weeks. I paid him extra so my NFA transfers might move faster on his part. After waiting 4 MONTHS and no word, I called the seller and they had not gotten an updated SOT form and had not heard back from him. Allen is a very friendly person, just not motivated to do what he says. I used Weapon Works and found them to be friendly, helpful and professional Transfers are $30.00 , NFA $75 for one or $35 each additional.

I like dealing with Rudy and the guys at RAD Range on Jim Barnwell Rd. in Burlington.
They’re good people and have always treated me well.

He's pricing himself into obscurity.
My Gawd. I'd have more respect if they just up & said the quiet part out loud; you suck and we hate you.

Milking the cow once is a terrible business plan.

The idea of the xfer fee is not to pay the light bill, it's to get people into the store. Wal Mart's #1 rule is get them into the store. It's not really a novel idea, it's pretty much been that way for every store in the history of forever.
If you have to charge that much for a transfer fee, then something else is wrong with the business.

The real question is wtf cant a nics be run in person in store anywhere in the country you want to buy?

Why the need to ship then do the nics? Its bs

How about somebody you eat lunch with once a month who is also a forum vendor? @SecundusSystems
That's already in the works as of a couple days ago! I've got a pistol lower coming his way, and will be seeing him at the lunch in Pittsboro today. You coming?

You coming?

I wish. drink one for me. Then come by the house sometime! @Alabamacoastie said y'all were gonna ride dirt bikes/4-wheelers out here soon. But it may never rain again so it might be a dusty ride for now.

I had my Sub2K transfer at Academy in Mooresville, I wanna say $50. Few months later went to pick up a Dagger, fee was $100.

Thankfully the PSA in Denver started doing their own transfers a few months later.
F Academy.... I hate that place. Their guns and ammo are overpriced, and the last salesman I dealt with was a complete richard... I'm not going back there.

I can't remember how many guns I've bought in the last 7 years, with my NC CHPs.

I pointed out an overpriced gun, and said, "I'll take that one." I handed him my NCDL and CHP. He flipped my CHP over and said, "Not here you won't. This CHP is invalid." And, he handed it back to me like I was a freaking felon or something. I stared at him like he had a horn growing out of his man bun...

He said it was never signed, on the back, and since it was already laminated it's un-signable and invalid. I guess he thought I was going to just shrug and walk away.

Instead, I argued with him and he handed me a sharpie and said "Sign it." I signed my name on the laminate, showed it to him, and it immediately rubbed right off.

He accepted it and sold me the gun. Then he went on and on about how much he likes Star Wars movies while I silently filled out the 4473. Freaking weirdo...

There is a right way and a wrong way to talk to people. This guy went about it all the wrong way.

Where I go, depending which one.
