This is being placed here for information. Probably might have qualified for the Bargains or Great Deal, but I think that the overall purpose and content is more fitting here.

Cabela's purchased the remaining (28,000) Trijicon RMR (Type 1) Red Dot sights. They are the newer version....the RMR06. Cabela's had them on sale for $349 including the universal mount. I was looking at one and called the factory to get information.

I have been reading a LOT about this sight for my soon to be in my hands, S&W M&P Pro 9L CORE. That gun was developed for the Trijicon and others. The original Leupold Delta Point was one of the leading brands. BUT, Leupold redesigned it. Therefore, the Delta Point Pro will not co-witness. Not a deal breaker but some folks like that feature.

All the Smith blogs recommended the Trijicon. It WILL co-witness. There WAS on issue, a heavy "caliber" (40 or 45?) in fast cycling rates that could impact the reliability of the battery contact. There are several articles on it. but it does not occur until 20K or so rounds. Found out that folks would use foil or tape to shim up the battery. One company even stamps ($10) a plate to push the battery up and that supposedly is bullet proof.

OK....do I want the original....with the latest upgrade in it....or do I want a NEW one. The Warranty Tech at Trijicon solved that dilemma. Trijicon will, at NO COST, upgrade the battery housing to the SAME design as the RMR Type 2. Outbound shipping is all you pay. Call them....get an RMA. You do NOT have to supply proof of purchase. OK....THAT did it.

The icing on this cake, which another shooter passed on....RAISE.com is a site where you can purchase discounted gift cards. I added in some 9mm HP's and a few stocking stuffers and got the total, with Tax, to $402.

I purchased four $100 Cabela's Gift Certificates for $347. With the 1% cash back on my Amex, I am in for $344. Took about 2 minutes to redeem the Cabela's Gift Certificates on the Online order. If I had only ordered the RMR, I and used $350 in Raise Gift Cards, I would have been in for a net of $324.

It is done. The RAISE.com coupons work on any Cabela's purchase....but since you pay with a Cabela's Gift Card, you do not get the 2% Club Rewards amount....Bottom it is, to me a deal.

Plan to immediately ship back my new sight and have it upgraded....

I have bought 2 of these RMRs from them and I used the Raise app too, great deal. Also in anyone is military or veteran they let you make an account for an additional 5% off. Good to know about Trijicon upgrading them for free, I may have to send mine in for that. I wonder what the turn around time would be on that service?

You’re going to love the RMR on the M&P. I have the same set up and have over 3K rounds through mine and it’s ran great. One thing I recommend is, when you get it, take the energizer battery that it comes with and toss it straight into the trash; they are absolute garbage. Both of mine, after I first got them started to experience the “flicker”. I did a little reading and found out about the batteries and replaced them both with Duracell’s haven’t had an issue since.

Thanks, Mr. Derek....good to get a positive response....we newbies like that. I really appreciate your comment on the battery. I was out of shooting for longer than 75+% of the members here are old....so I am enjoying cleaning out my safe and letting some of the "Queens" find studs that will satisfy their pentup demands....
Also learning a lot from the posts here and the ads as well.
