I’m coming up on 80k on my oem Goodyear Wranglers that came on my 2017 F150. Still have 5/32nds but the shoulders of the tires are worn, and rubber is getting hard and cracked so I’ll hopefully get new ones next oil change.

Maybe more Wranglers, and in blackwalls instead of white letter cuz I can’t seem to stay off curbs, or Michelins. I don’t need off road tires.

Anybody experiencing availability issues like I have with motorcycle tires?

Tires are getting harder to find. My Dad works for a tire company and has mentioned several times that they have had issues getting tires to keep their warehouse stocked up. He said it’s hit or miss

I had to order my new tires from amazon

I see complaints on my car forum recently with members complaining about taking 6+ weeks to get in the tires they ordered from Costco.

Sounds like if you want some before any bad winter weather comes, order soon.

I had to go with Hankook, had them on my Excursion and my F350, did great. These are going on my wife's Tundra Screenshot_20211018-162733_Amazon Shopping.jpg

I get my Fords serviced at the dealer not far from me, but can never get them on the phone. They are next to the Food Lion we go to, so I’ll stop in and ask them whats what with getting tires installed through them these days. They are a Michelin dealer. I’ll see if they can get some Defender LTX’s. It’s a 70,000 mile tire.

I just put a set of Defender LTX's on my wife's Sequioa a little over a month ago. They didn't have them in stock but it only took 5 days to get them. Put a set of Defender car tires on a Subaru I just bought for my daughter last week and they were in stock. Both of these were at Costco and I ordered online.

Defender LTX is a very good tire. Price is going up January 1st, so I'm told.
I’d just replace with the Wrangler that came on it. A little less expensive, and been a great tire, but Crossroads Ford service dept is not a Goodyear dealer. Go figure. Their F-150’s have come with them forever. They have told me in the past they could get them.

I had the Michelin LTXs on a Ranger and couldn’t wear them out.

I just want to have some options when I ask them if they can get some tires for me, rather than have to consider a tire I’ve never run or considered before.

so far so good with the toyo at3's on the truck and expedition, have also had good luck with hankook on the beater honda.

defenders have been just meh on the wifes civic, one set wore out in like 40k and was warrantied and this set is doing just ok so far

@fieldgrade it might be an option for you but if your worried about it you could even go ahead and purchase the tires and set them aside if you got a little bit longer until you must replace them. I just did this for my Ford Fusion car.

I’ve got two new tires I drove six hours round trip to get for the Red Pig in the garage for the same reason.

I think my plan for now will be just to have the dealer order them, because I’ll end up paying more if I buy the tires elsewhere and pay someone to install them later, plus no free rotations forever. That’s $320 right there at $20 a pop every five thousand for 80,000 miles.

Heck, I’ll reach my expiration date before the tires do.

Commercial truck tires are getting more difficult to run down. Im about to put in a decent size order and just leave them at my shop for a just in case scenario.
I was worried about getting a flat in a sidewall or something as benign as that on my bike and being stuck somewhere. No spare, like a Corvette. So I at least have two in the garage now, and when I put those on, I’ll have two spare old tires.

One thing I am discovering is treadware ratings are easy to find on the side of a tire, but hard to find on manufacturer websites. I was sort of looking at new trucks a few months ago, and noticed that the Fords had a menagerie of different brands of tires on their new trucks, and the Goodyears and Michelins they were wearing did NOT have the 680 tread wear rating my current Goodyears have, which is why they’ve lasted as long as they have.

When we replace it's always Michelin.....I don't need an aggressive tire....I want the best ride that can be got...Aynor Tire can get Anything I want in 24 hours.....I replaced brand new tires on 2 new Gladiators with the same size in Michelins with The Best for comfort. Honestly..I thought it was a different truck when I left. The Jeep I have now had a brand new [less than 1K miles] set of 35 BF Goodrich All Terrains on it when I bought it...if I drove it more than once a week, I'd change out to Michelins. However...if I was going to Helll, I'd leave the Goodrichs on.

Like this? Nail came in the tread and out the sidewall. Had just pulled off Skyline Drive and stopped at the gas pumps at the Luray Caverns parking lot to fill up. Started to pull away from the pump and it was like I left the parking brake on. Must have picked up the nail just before we stopped.

Our distributors keep warning of shortages but so far we've only seen it with tractor tires. But if they're out of what we want we'll happily take what they have. We burn through a lot of tires, like $200k+ a year.
