If you end up calling someone, we’ve done a lot of business with Ideal Services out of Holly Springs and would recommend them. As an example, when we purchased their service contract which included spring and fall PM, the tech did the most thorough cleaning and maintenance I’ve ever seen one do, including taking the top of the condenser unit off (the whole lid and fan assembly comes off with a few screws) to clean the unit out and spray the coils from the inside.
Hate to say it, but finding honest HVAC service is worse than automotive. Last winter / spring the upstairs blower fan at my high point house wouldn’t shut off, except when you turn the system off at the breaker. As we’re not there much, and hadn’t stayed there long term this spring I didn’t turn on the AC until recently and called to have it serviced. Surprisingly, it was working just fine, coming on and off. Here’s the kicker. A few years ago, during the PM, the tech told me that the hermetically sealed motor was leaking oil and getting ready to fail. I declined the $300:fee for changing it at that time and figured it was pulling too much current and froze the relay as the reason it wouldn’t shut off. The tech came to check it last week and i specifically asked questions about the motor. No oil, no leaks, no indication of malfunction, current readings well within normal. Which one lied?
