Thank you all for the extra prayers over the weekend. We know God listened and things started heading back in the right direction. By Saturday morning Jerek’s counts were in the normal range. We thought this would mean he would be fever free, but he unfortunately spiked another fever around 5 that evening – 102.8. Once it came back down, it stayed down through the night. Sunday morning he had a temp of 100.5. By definition, this was a fever. Fortunately, this is the last recorded fever he had.
Once his counts started to recover, they were back to normal in just 2 days. As long as nothing unexpected happens in the meantime, he is set to be discharged Wednesday when he reaches his “72 hours fever free” mark. Since his counts recovered so quickly, the doctors also wanted to keep him on schedule with his treatment plan and begin the second 4 weeks of this course today.
This 4 week period is basically a repeat of the last 4 weeks just without the lumbar punctures. This week is 4 days of chemo so he had chemo today and will also get it tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday. He also started back on chemo pills today. At this point, Jerek is just ready to go home so now we just have to pray he will be patient while they hold him hostage for another day and half.
