Don’t know what you would call it, or where to look for one, but I am searching for a secure drawer to bolt down in the cargo area of my old Jeep Cherokee, in which to place close cell foam and cut out sections for different firearms I want to store there. Like what Jack Bauer had in the back of his vehicles in the show 24. It would anchor to the body, lock securely, and have approximately a 6” deep drawer that pulls out.

There’s got to be such a thing. Who builds them, or where would I look?

OK, found a few offerings. Modifying my need and am looking for brand recommendations, and is there anyone in the forum that makes them?

Thanks. No model for the old XJ Cherokees. I think I need to barter with someone to build me one. They are pretty expensive from what I’ve seen so far.

I’m sure there are some welders on here that could fab one up. My buddy in WNC probably could but it’s a bit of a drive.

Have you looked at tool drawers? My old man had bed length drawers in his work truck that were 5 feet long and maybe 6 inches deep.

No doubt. We get up to Asheville some for family, and may be moving back there in a year or two.

I think though that a strong box using 3/4” plywood, bolted to the body and carpeted would work as well.

I’m wrestling with this search myself and also daunted by some of the msrp’s one alternative I was noodling was installing one of these sliding “trays” and then securing some form of “Pelican” type gun cases - or even a metal gun cabinet laid flat (vs standing vertical) to the tray itself: https://www.amazon.com/MORryde-CTG60-3960W-Sliding-Cargo-Tray/dp/B006JRJLQC/ref=sr_1_18?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.JsnCAYy30Ad7LSJUJL4lXeI540WjCLys4F3W_n_9wP97r1UYsLy3vZ0ggCdnDiJk8V_LRDpQ_mvJTg2Uy5psgQzVGrkBqyHkk0mNj7irHnab8llE2SGyQH4RZGBCb12OVoVnzWbFu5gN_NSjm8RZsGlYYYG-RC3YKQVgGBp52d9zdSsLQcdYvKa9CVVgXaRS-55ZvmQN73WK1Jy_bKCEBbvJK1pABqKlUvFneTcTTELV0d0IA67gsAx1yadNe_tE8ITHP1ozDs4U1JUTBqZxyG5cbUKAM8xM8XrIYFqoC74.jhFfzXGp7rLr7DLqFL9nbYoMr7pfTG_8vhzfn2RTCE4&dib_tag=se&keywords=truck+bed+drawer&qid=1708169849&sr=8-18&th=1

It seems to me the real challenge / expense in any sliding drawer system - and what has kept me from the custom fabrication route thus far - are the sliders themselves. First, KISS as far as practical (accessing sliders to maintain and keep them clean after several years will be difficult at best) with second being the need for rigidity (maintain integrity of the slider system)

Having been down roads like this before, and unless I also wind up going the “3/4” plywood route; I am also confident that whatever I end up with it is going to be something I wind up repurposing which made for some other “purpose” or industry (I.e., surveying tools, etc.) that. Which always has me checking Craigslist and such regularly … to wit (I was thinking I could make this work, even if I had to break guns down): https://hickory.craigslist.org/tls/d/morganton-work-truck-tool-box/7712565770.html
