Video: How to Shoot a Shotgun Faster

I am reminded watching that video of 2 things. There are 3 ways to address a target with your body. Parallel to the plane of the target. At some angle to the plane of the target and perpendicular to the plane of the target. What works for one may not work for all. And the other thing is I was at a big area pistol match years ago and they had a shotgun side match for money that was plates. And you could run it as many times as you wanted but you had to pay for every run. Fastest run won half the money that was collected. Club got the other half. Dude on my pistol squad ran it a few times and during the course of the pistol match would check on the best run time and if he had been beat, he would plunk down his money and run it again until he was fastest. He did that several times during the day long match. He won the shotgun side match. The point being he was able to push the gas peddle a little harder each time his run time had been beat.

I posted this before but worth watching before you take a class or to review it again.

Really most applicable to semi-auto but yes it works for both. The push-pull method and fighting stance gets me goimg pretty quick with an M2. In the video, I'm not convinced they were shooting full power buckshot, but I could be wrong.

I suspect it was only buckshot for the 2 rapid fire strings at the start if the (first) video.

I will definitely try that out.

Been really enjoying TFBs shotgun content lately, and really enjoyed the haughts on primary and secondary podcast a few years back. It isn't helping my lust for a 1301 though 😅.

Gonna have to try this!

Just an observation, but looking at the mechanics of the technique, I’m thinking that someone running a pump may have a shorter learning curve than someone running a self-loader. Reason being is that your hand is moving the slide forward to chamber the shell..you are already doing the “push” part of the technique…kinetic energy.

That make sense to y’all?

I’m pretty amped up about getting to the range and seeing how well this method works.
