Since I own a Tavor X95..
Great comparison video, no bs.
I forgot the Hellion had adjustable gas.
The video also reminds me of some other Hellion CONS I picked up on…
-The bolt release “pinch” behind the mag was rough, not a fan at all. You don’t necessarily have to “pinch” it but I didn’t love that motion & it required more force than expected. I intuitively tried to release the bolt by pulling the CH back & letting go but it didn’t work for me in the store, had to pinch
-The charging handle felt kinda cheap - seems like a weak point with the hinge pivot & it being made of plastic. All the controls were plastic? Bolt release, safety, maybe trigger
-I’m not as experienced with the AK-style mag release, prefer the index finger AR / Tavor.
-Interesting point he brought up about the Hellion safety - very few degrees of travel & the white indicator line seems like it should be perfectly horizontal on safe. But I had no trouble toggling it with my thumb like he did in the video… pretty sure I was able to reach the safety with my right thumb while holding the grip regular
-His shooting demo was nice, positive feedback - never really know til you shoot something at the range.
I was really hung-ho on buying a Hellion as my first bullpup once pricing cooled down. Aesthetically, I like the look over other bullpups & I always thought the VHS-2 was cool. But it’s not a priority at any point in the close future… I don’t doubt that it’s a better shooter than me, it just didn’t wow me personally today in the store 🤷🏼♂️ And I need another $2k 5.56 gun like I need a hole in my head.
