Voting for Trump

I think a more important questions is: assuming a hot conflict, will we be speaking Russian or Chineese?
Umm... I think biblically, we would be speaking Russian, as we fight against the Chinese.

And if you knew me, it's a sobering thought.

I like Trump.

It's not because I agree with everything he's done (I don't) or that he ran as a Republican, or any number of other political mumbo-jumbo BS about him.

I like him because he's like a frickin' epileptic bull in the political china shop and it's pretty evident BOTH of the major political parties have just lost their sh*t over him. In fact, it's only recently that the Republican's have said "Holy cow, we better get our political act together and at least ACT like we own this rampaging bull and take advantage of this."

I wish my parents were still alive to see this, having been born in the early 20s. Dad especially would have LOVED this and as the sly political pot stirrer he was at family reunions, he would have instigated EPIC political arguments and sat on the sidelines watching!

I am SO waiting for the nuclear meltdown that's coming in the 2020 election! If you thought things were entertaining following the 2016 election, stand by! In today's lingo "sh*t's about to get real"!

Some people have long said this country has been going to H*ll in a handbasket, but if this is part of it, I'm going to enjoy the ride while I can!

I have to admit, I snicker wherever I hear someone in the political arena getting upset about Trump. He has dominated the focus of the Dems. All this time and energy just to disqualify or otherwise remove him from office.

No kidding! I mean HONESTLY! Most political rhetoric is pretty straight laced bickering back and forth.

Trump? HAH!

Typical: "You've heard my opponent say (fill in the blank)."

Trump: "You're all a bunch of f*ckin' liars." (Actually: "When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you are the enemy of the people." and ""The radical Democrats policies are crazy. Their politicians are corrupt. Their candidates are terrible. They know they can't win an election so they are pursuing an illegal, invalid, and unconstitutional bullshit impeachment.")

He's not afraid to say exactly what's on his mind and THAT is what appeals to so many people, like me. He at least says it to your face. And he's not afraid to put it plain to other national leaders, too, like Kim Jung Un:

"Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!"

And maybe, just MAYBE if people would look past the "horrible words of the bad orange man", they'd realize that the vast majority of the immigrant problems are cause PRECISELY by "sh*thole countries". If people would quite buttering up reality and hiding it behind rainbows and unicorn farts, they'd actually see the truth of the matter. People don't WANT to leave everything they've ever known behind for a foreign country unless they're really living in a sh*thole.

I'm completely satisfied Trump is POTUS, considering the alternatives. But I keep reminding myself that Trump is so hyper sensitive he could wake up one day soon and fire hisownself and say take this job and shove it. He really has no party. Which parts of the Bill of Rights does he support? Does he have a place he calls home? He has already moved to Florida this year.

In 2019 going to 2020 there are no sure bets. God bless the USA.

God bless the USA.
I wanted to find where he says God Bless the USA, and No one else, but this is pretty good too. It's a scene from Fallout 3, i.e. this is about 200 years after the Day of the Great War. Abraham Washington claims to be a museum curator.

I know, right? Says exactly what he thinks.

My two personal favorites from Season One are:

We’re knocking out bump stocks. We’re in the final two or three weeks, and I’ll be able to write out bump stocks.”

and

"I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man's case that just took place in Florida ... to go to court would have taken a long time. Take the guns first, go through due process second."

Just because he's driving the establishment nuts, don't think that makes him an ally or a friend, especially to gun Rights.

He is a populist first. No more, no less.

All the people who call him out for being a liar tickle me pink, too. As if their choices aren't out there talking sh*t out both sides of their mouths!

At least he's LOUD AND PROUD when he opens his mouth. It's like the man has no filter between what he's thinking and what he says...except that I think he DOES have a filter, he's just figured out that this WORKS for him. He didn't get to be where he is in life otherwise.

And the fact that it p*sses these people off even MORE is icing on the cake to me. Because while all their favorites are lying behind our backs to us, he's standing right up front of everybody and saying whatever comes to mind, however he feels like saying it.

Every politician lies. Every politician backtracks. Every politician does or says things that everybody does not agree with or like.

But THIS one...oh, he makes it into a prime time sitcom and these people are the laugh track!

Or they're stupid enough to fall for a girl from New Jersey.

Libertarian Party. I believe they garnered about 25,000 votes and it resulted in the loss of 1 senate and 4 or 5(?) house of delegates seats. There was a piece in the Durham rag the day after election where they crowed about handing a defeat to the repubs. Damned if I can find it but I'll keep looking.

Like the stupid Repugs/Rethugs do such a bang up job. What gun rights have they advanced? How has govt. gotten any smaller or less intrusive? How did they get rid of. Obamacare? How have they reduced the debt? I could go on but they done nothing but whine about how they tried, oh how they tried, and maybe if we vote for them again, maybe they will next time.

The party is defunct. If they’re not the solution then they’re part of the problem.

Who’s to say those 25000 people would ever consider voting republican? The Dems cry the say things when they lose. If you want to win run better candidates on a better platform. The fact of the matter is if you’d force people to vote D or R the outcome would’ve been the same.

No Rs peeled off during the Schiff show. A few of them may be growing spines.

I’d take that bet. My guess is that right now polls show impeachment as unfavorable and Trump winning in 2020. If that changes they’ll turn on some quickly their necks will probably snap off.

Unfortunately I have about as much faith in the Repubs as you do. The only principal most of them seem to care about is the principal of doing whatever it takes to be re-elected. Followed by whatever it takes to be loved by the press. Which they are apparently stupid enough to think will actually happen.

That's the principle all politicians go by, most especially those on a national level.

One thing that always comes up in mind when thinking of Trump vs Democrat X. IMO Democrat X does not love this country or its traditions and wishes to change it into some kind of Euro-Make Believe Utopia while Trump does seem Patriotic even when he’s being a dick. But I’d agree he doesn’t have a truly traditional or originalists view of our laws. How could he? He is a NYC guy.

A bit of information about the "Euro-Make Believe Utopia" comment here. I once had a guy from the UK explain to me how they look at American politics. His comment was:

"Your Left is our Right."

Now, that was a few years BEFORE the current state of meltdown we're seeing on the Left in this country. But it's still an enlightening point of view of our political spectrum.

This is true. Most of Europe is so far gone I'm not sure there is any coming back for them.

I have no disagreement with anything you've said - but that leads me to ask: what do you suggest as an alternative?

The only thing I can think of is take it as far left as fast as we can - if it's going to break, might as well get it over with

I think too many people get caught up in this as an "absolute".

There IS no "absolute" in politics. You'll never get Jesus and the Apostles in office. That's not our job.

Our job, as citizens, is simply to do the best we can with what we have, knowing it'll never be perfect.

Our job, as citizens, is to work towards mitigating the tendency of those in power to continue to gain power.

Our job, as citizens, is to realize that any one group in power for too long will give the rest of us the shaft.

People who get caught up in this are the ones who allow themselves to be pitted against one another in a war whose only beneficiaries are those in political power.

WE are not "The Enemy". When people realize this, THEN those in power will have something to worry about.

So...do the best you can with what we have and do your part, whatever that may be, to affect a change for the better.

As long as libertarians support open borders my conscience isn't going to let me support them.
Ask any Libertarian if it is a legitimate function of government to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and nearly all will say yes. Yet they look the other way as millions of babies are murdered. Sorry, I cannot vote for that.

Ask yourself this. Can you think of anything about the current regime/system or whatever you want to dub it that is worth saving? I can’t. As much as I wish it were possible, I don’t believe we can vote our way out of this mess. The only way I see of fixing it is by replacing it and that means going down the rabbit hole.

The problem with single issue voting, and that includes the 2nd A, is that you leave yourself open to be duped. How many times have folks voted for a candidate simply because they proclaimed themselves to be Christian, or even worse because they oppose abortion, an issue they’re not going to be able to do a damned thing about.

It's not single issue voting, although it's difficult to get past the slaughter of fifty million babies. They are wrong about drugs, wrong about their non-interventionism, wrong about open borders, wrong about abortion. And unelectable.
