Part of me is glad this passed in this form because it clearly shows the end goal. This targets semi-auto rifles without "evil" features too.
- Possessing parts is now illegal.
- Springfield M1A in all forms is now illegal. Even the NY-compliant no flash hider version with a traditional stock.
- SKS in all forms is now illegal. Even with a wood stock, no features, and a fixed mag - it's illegal.
- A Ruger PC carbine with free-float handguard and non-threaded barrel is illegal.

What's the end goal? Total control. Ban everything.

What I find interesting is that the law prohibits "...the manufacture, importation, distribution, selling, and offering for sale of assault weapons..." It does not prohibit owning an assault weapon. As I read the law if I own an assault rifle before the effective date of the law or if I go out of state and purchase an AR-15, I am within the law. Is this an error or am I just missing something?
