Watches

46 years old, but new to me. It's a bit rougher than it looks in the pic and will need some work including removal of the stuck bezel, new crystal, gaskets all around, and general cleaning. I may look into getting it serviced but I don't think a lot of people do quartz. @gsimmons - any experience with a Seiko 7549 quartz movement? Seiko has the service manual on their site.

I can clean the case etc. but it depends on availability of parts. There are specific gaskets that may not be available. As far as the movement goes yes, I have serviced those movements before. As long as the electronics are good.

Awesome - thanks!

It seems to be running well, so electronics should be good. I have some of the gaskets which will work (same as 6309 series) and searched a bit to find the rest, including a new crystal, so will reach out once I have everything in hand.

I went into a pawn shop in Beaumont today and I spied this Citizen Stiletto Eco-Drive. It was priced at $80. I asked to look at it and the owner's wife took it out of the case for me. It looked good, I joked that someone had removed the numbers on it. She looked at it and said she hadn't noticed that it had no numbers. I asked her what she would take for it and she asked if I'd give $30, out the door. I accepted and brought it home. I removed a link from the band and it fits perfectly.

I don’t know of if I’d have given $30, it’s got hairs all over the crystal! 😀

Picked this up used and today is my first day wearing my official weekend watch. I’ve had this a few weeks because I couldn’t wear it with the factory deployment band, very uncomfortable. Received the new strap from crown and buckle this week. Extremely comfortable to wear.

I used to have one like that. Very comfortable size.

My daily wear Bertucci field watch. I think I paid $120 for it several years ago. I like the fact that when I am hunting it’s low profile, lightweight and my older eyes can see the time. I would buy another, it has served me well.

I really like those 3 ring Zulu straps. I’ve had my eye on those watches, too. They look like a fantastic value.

So, my son’s birthday watch (vintage Hamilton) is on its way back to the seller for repair. Worked fine for a week then when winding to the stop point, it would click and then keep winding. Still running, just not winding right. It came with a warranty as it was restored so they will make it right.

Did you consider the hesalite model and if so what made you choose the sapphire one?
I did consider the hesalite. I have a Speedmaster Reduced in the hesalite and I like it and the nostalgia that goes with it but wanted the durability of the sapphire and really wanted the sapphire back with exposed movement.

This caught my eye today. I assume these are rebranded and made by someone else.

My “new to me” Glycine Combat Sub. This one has joined the rotation with my Citizen ProMaster and ProMaster Anniversary watches.
