And I found one today.
2013, 50,000 miles, 6spd manual 4wd.
So far I love it. It's on great shape to be 4 years old. I wish it had a hard top. I'll probably eventually get a used one somewhere for it.

That's nice looking!

Thanks, kinda fun to change gears again. There's a huge hill in front of the dealership where I got it from. Most of the salesman about pissed themselves this afternoon when I went down it to leave instead of pulling out of the driveway like a normal human.

"normal" behavior is highly overrated

Looks good! It will be easier to hold that kayak on top while driving with out a hard top

You may want to talk to a couple of people before you get a hard top. They are a hoss to take off and put on and a pain to store when they are not on. If you do get one look into the garage lift for it. It makes removal a lot easier and if you can back up under it with the top off you won't waste any space storing it.

With that said, they are nice to have in the winter
I honestly don't know if I'd ever take it off, Don. I test drove one with a hard top today and the cab was a lot quieter. But it was 3 years older and they were asking about the same price as the newer one I got. My goal is a hard top, and one of those roof racks that bolts to the four corners of the cab

I used to love convertibles. The oldish Mustang I bought three years ago I found myself riding a lot with the top up and windows down. Tired of the sun beating on me. I think I would be after a hard top too.

Wish I had the extra scratch they have a sharp 2002 in forest green with low mileage at Mooresville Ford.

Working on a cj5 now but after it's done, I'll probably switch my daily driver to a daily jeep.

Sweet ride... have any plans to upgrade stuff or just going to keep it stock?

I'd eventually like to lift it a little and put some bigger tires on it. Add a couple aftermarket lights to the front. And a trailer hitch. It's got to have a trailer hitch

You won't miss having the hardtop. Well, unless you love or work in a high crime area.
The soft to is very quiet and weighs over 100 pounds less.
Of course you'll be wanting to add several hundred pounds of steel to replace the plastic crap. [emoji38] [emoji12]

Sweet JK, Brian. I just upgraded my TJ to a JK with a hardtop...and love it. More secure, quieter, warmer/cooler...

Done like a true Jeeper. Excellent job.

It's much harder for dates to escape by chewing their way through the hardtop.

Don't buy a hitch. I've got one in the shed you can have.

Congratulations on the Jeep, you're going to love it!!

I bought mine new, so I chose the hard top. It was a lot more expensive to buy the hard top afterwards than it would be to buy a soft top. In the winter I'm glad I have the hard top, and I think they look better with the hard top. However come topless season I always wish I had a soft top. I like the idea of being able to put it back up if I get caught in the rain. With the hard top completely off you are screwed. When it's really hot, I tend to just take the doors off. The top provides shade and you still get the open feel of the jeep with just the doors off. The hard top is not hard to take off, but you're going to need an extra hand. My wife is too short and lacks the upper body strength to lift it off, so we rarely take it off. I tried it by myself with my wife just helping me keep it stable. I climbed in and lifted it and kinda scooted out until I could stand up. It was a windy day and I'll never try that again. I about pulled a muscle in my shoulder trying to set it on the ground.

If I had a garage to park it in, it wouldn't be as bad as I could get my neighbor to help me lift it off, and leave it off for the entire summer, or build a lift like most people do. I don't have a garage, so If we take the entire top off, I have to put it back on when we get back.

Is it just mine or does your clutch engage at the very end of the pedal stroke? It took me forever to get used to that. I've had manual transmissions in every vehicle except my most recent truck, but the jeep took a while to get used to. After about a week I turned the hill assist crap off, and that helped speed up the learning curve quite a bit.

Mine being the Rubicon, it came with BFG mud terrains. I love the look, but those tires are bad about picking up rocks. I live on a gravel road and after only 15,00o miles I already have chips in the paint on the hinges. Drives me nuts.

No fair. Everyones Jeep looks way cooler than mine.

good god man... take off the doors and that soft top and drive it like you stole it.....

then tell me if you want a hard top.....

jeeps were made to go "up" and to do it topless.....

why do you own a jeep...... because i have an uncontrollable urge to go UP... and if there is anything up there i will go up it too.... and i will do it with the breeze blowing through my hair....
You ain't got no hair.
I've been on the fence about a jeep for a couple years now. I drive about 2500 miles a year so I'm not worried about mileage. Nice Jeep Brian.

Where are the jeeps with the trail rash? All the ones I've seen in this thread are awful pretty... :D

Three things to consider with the discussion on the tops Brian. One is security. Unzip a zipper or pull out a box cutter and someone can get into it, quietly. Secondly, the windows on soft tops look great when they are new. No matter how careful you are, after a couple of washings and a few times folding them, they become embedded with scratches. The hard top windows are glass and won't show scratches like the soft top windows. Finally, after putting the soft top down and raising it back up over a period of time, the stitching can start tearing in certain places, especially along the zipper seams. You've seen my '06 and I think you've seen my 2016, not sure. My new one has the hard top and I really like it. My '06 is on it's 2nd top. I had to replace the first one because of a seam that came apart in a critical area above the driver's side door making it impossible to lock the top down above the door. I realize I could have had it resewn but I didn't feel like messing with it. I hope that helps............ Dave

I had a hard top, and kept it hung in my garage when I didn't need it. Had one of the small 1500lb winches mounted on the wall to make it a one person job.

Also had a safari top I really like. (Bikini top that covered the whole thing, instead of just the front seats)

Uwharrie doesn't open until 1Apr17...

Mine's going to the TN mountains this weekend anyway.
Ever been to Devil's Playground? (I'm assuming it's still open...by invite only).

It's just up the road from Uwharrie and about as much fun as you can have around here!!

Never heard of it. Got a location/link/GPS coords?
Imagine a big field...with all the obstacles at Uwharrie around the edges, just inside the woods. You can literally drive a Honda Civic there and walk to all kinds of fun wheeling.

The Mudd Devils run it, hence the name. They used host open rides every once in awhile. I went several times when I was active on NC4X4. That's where you'd find any details.

I have all kinds of pics on a hard drive somewhere.

Nice Jeep!!! I had every intention of buying a new one and keeping my other truck, ( and I could have bought a new one for the difference!) but I like my truck and I've always liked the TJ body style better so I guess I'll be bumming around in the old one!

Nice looking Jeep, get the bug deflector for the front hood, it's worth it for keeping bugs off the flat windshield, rocks too.

Anyone have an M38A1 they're looking to get rid of? Not looking a full resto but a decent running one.
