Went by one of the local gun shops this morning to pick up a Gen 2 G17 I had purchased from AIM. While I was waiting my turn to check out (smaller shop, only owner and his helper working) I started browsing around. Saw some Glock frames, inquired about one since I eventually want to do a custom built but they didn’t have any 19/23 frames.

I had my son whose two with me and was trying to make sure he didn’t get into anything he wasn’t suppose to. He kept looking in once cause pointing and going “ohh.” Curiosity pealed, I looked down and he was pointing to the 1911s where a full sized Norinco 1911 was sitting.

I have previously owned two full sized Norinco 1911s, having spent more money than I probably needed turning both into fully customized guns. The first was one I bought for $350 at a gun show and then before I deployed I dropped off at my gunsmith and had it hard blued, Kart barrel installed, beavertail, commander hammer, and Lord only knows how many Wilson Combat parts were installed. The second I got out In WA for $400, had a smith out there cerakote the slide graphite black and frame OD green along with a slew of Wilson Combat stuff installed. I stupidly traded and sold both pistols off once I got back to NC as part of various other deals. I regret doing that, even going as far as posting locally looking for them and calling/texting the people who I did trades/sales with to track them down. One got posted by a shop on armslist but sold before I could get there.

I had the owner pull it out and started looking it over, he mentioned he had another one as well if I was interested. Out comes the Norinco 1911 Compact. It was a beauty, the original grips were long gone and you can tell it had been loved but taking care of.

He was asking $425 apiece for them, I debated for a quick minute and went with the Compact since I hadn’t never seen one before and remembered only a few were imported before the Clinton ban. If I had the funds I would have done both, but with Christmas fast approaching and possibility of starting a new job I went with only one.

I might swing by tomorrow and put the other one away if he lets me. The shop has layaway, for as long as you want as long as you keep paying on it.

Sorry no pictures, I was in a rush to make an appointment and won’t be able to pick up until after Christmas.

They are great guns. I've never seen a compact, either.

I too had never seen a compact......go back and get the other one....

I almost did but didn’t, it’s still sitting there

If I hadn’t already agreed to buy a Glock 26 he had I’d probably get it. Maybe Santa will be good to me, though my buddy keeps mentioning he might buy it

I collect and love to shoot Norinco stuff but I’m not going to go behind someone’s back for it if they really want it. I was actually talking to a couple of their guys today at the Dixie booth about their AK builds they do.
