Too much.

If it's one off then it's low ammo QC.
Happens more than once in a brick then...

Chamber, extractor, obstruction in firing pin movement.

Most definitely an out of battery discharge. Dirty chamber/breech face, out of spec ammo/chamber/extractor are all possible reasons.

I had a Marlin Model 60 that surprisingly hated CCI Mini Mags. It would do the exact same thing with them every so often. Best I could figure was a slightly tight chamber paired with the wax coating on the CCI’s were causing just enough drag to cause an OOB discharge. It will surely get your attention when it happens.
