What did you do in the reloading room today?

Got my Lee 6 cavity mold in the mail today. Dropped 1 K 158gr SWC .358 diam. Then powder coated a batch of them. Used Eastwood powder on recommendation of Mustang Jon and i think they look good enough to eat. But because the dentist is so expensive I'll load some tomorrow and hopefully choot ' em this weekend. 20200423_175157.jpg 20200423_205533.jpg

Lee Bulge Buster came today with .45 ACP and .40 S&W Carbide Factory Crimp dies. What an effective tool!! Set them up on a Lee LCT. Had some suspicious reloads. Fixed them right up. I intend to run all .45 and .40 brass through this thing, before reloading.

Loaded 200 rds of 45C in virgin Starline brass- which meant also checking the primer pockets and chamfering the inside of the case mouth just enough to break the sharp edge.
Did the same prep to another 100 cases and primed them.
Sorted through my "leftover" 45 XTP and researched a pistol load for the 300 gr pills.

What started out to be a quick hour to an hour and a half job ended up being a 2 day project.
When I got home from the range on Saturday I was going to reload the bullets that I shot. After a couple hours of tumbling them I setup the 6.5 CM dies and powder. Then Barbara says start the grill for dinner. Hell when I cooking outside, I have to have a cocktail or 3. After dinner I really did not want to break one of my #1 rules (got about 4 of them). So I decided to finish up the reloading on Sunday.
Reloaded 20 - 6.5 CM and about 150 - 223s. Got tired having to stop to take the crimp out of some of the brass so when I got finished reloading the 223s, I grabbed a 1 gallon bag of 223 brass and ran them through the RCBS de-crimping die. I have another 1 gallon bag of 223 brass in the bucket that I am going to start working getting them de-crimped.

Loaded up 300 rounds of 45acp using RMR 200 plated bullets, and BE86 powder. Some were 6.7gn and the rest were 7.0gn. These will be primarily for my FNX45 that require loads a little more stout than my normal loads using Clays.

Part of the reason for loading these were to test the brass that was wet tumbled without pins. I wanted to see if I noticed any difference from the ones I normally tumble with pins. I did not notice any cases sticking on the expander this time, so I think I may stick to tumbling without pins. Changing to wash-n-wax had helped a lot, but did not totally eliminate the problem.

Thought I might head out to the range tomorrow, so I worked up some loads. I used the 223 55 FMJ bullets I got from @Butter , and the WC844 powder I got a deal. Loaded from 24 to 26 gn. I also continued sorting 223 brass by headstamp. Lots of LC and PMC in this batch.

Ordered and received my Double Alpha Primer Pro from @Butter and promptly put it to work. Loaded 4 tubes dumping them back in the hopper just to see it in action and verify the primers were dropping in the correct orientation. All was well so I began feeding the machine. Loaded 1000 rounds with a tube always at the ready each and every time. It easily outran the press which was set at just under 1600/RPH.

Very happy and highly recommend so far. In the past, I would load 8 tubes and have to break to refill tubes but no more. As long as this little guy keeps running, the flip tray can collect dust. Just has to last a few more years till my daughter is old enough to load the tubes. :D

I’ll post again after I use it some more but love it so far. I gauge as I go every so often and didn’t see any flipped but have only put 300/1000 in the Hundo. So far so good!

Trying the wash method today. I didnt have enough spent cases to hit the paddles in the tub so I had to throw in some plastic jugs to get the brass tumbling

Hard to tell from the pictures, but the wash didnt shine like the media. Maybe try a little lemon shine next time? I’ll try again with a full drum, maybe it didnt spin the brass enough with it going under the paddlesTumbled for 45 minutes.

If it starts getting slow, take it apart and clean the disc and bowl with Pledge.

Reactions: Me.
@Wolffy

Looks like I’ll be out another $70. I dislike both of you!

ETA: the DAA sticking is the worst. Polished the crap out of it and it’s still rough. Glad this fix is out there.
Youre gonna love it. I guarantee it.

@Slappy McTrigger the only thing that will slow your RPH is case spillage. I had my 1050Auto running at 1975 RPH and had about a dozen topples in 45k rounds. Carter has a poop in a group on this funnel for sure
