What do you do when you see the forecast for match day is turning from chicken salad...

And the one who started the thread isn't bellacheing at all about it.

This Saturday's forecast for Sampson county pretty much sucks more than it doesn't. Even the wife is distressed about it, but only because she'll have to hear my bellyaching.
Well, this has completely gone off topic. Sorry FG!

Everybody knows the most entertaining threads are seven pages long and end up having nothing to do with the OP.
Then they get banished to some dark corner of the forum by a cranky mod, like the Platinum Section, that has only 7 members who even know the password or secret handshake.

He's somewhere in another thread, dragging it off topic.
You know me well. The rest of you lightweights need to get busy. This thread is barely two pages long.
You're all worthless and weak.

Water doesn't bother me too much, but I don't do cold well.
Like now...currently at 19 degrees...I'd probably pass.
I don't go for the glory and the chicks like fieldgrade. Just fun and play.
And admittedly I'm spoiled. Got my own range, so I can pew pew pretty much anytime.

We've had a couple of mornings this winter we started out in the mid 20's and there is usually a pretty strong breeze down at H20 or Buccaneer when you're not in a bay. I get pretty frosty standing around waiting for the safety brief and match to start, but it seems as soon as I have a course of fire in front of me, and an SO with a timer behind me, my coat is off and the heart gets pumping.

Well there is one spot left at Statesville Sunday afternoon if you wanna take a long ride, weather looks good, single stack could always use another body.

Can you send me a link? I'm not seeing it on Luke's calendar.

Thanks, I see one spot open in squad 2. Dumb question time. Do 8 round single stack 1911's in .45acp fit into the USPSA universe? I have plenty of mags. How many can you carry?
Single stack division. Carry as many mags as you want

What's the usual round count for a typical stage? I assume they are unlimited.

Wolffy got it.
In 45 you should be shooting major. Which means 8rnds max in the mags after start signal in SS, can barney at load and make ready. Only lame thing is a bunch of mags and none in front of the hip makes for a long reach.

SS and production are reload intensive.

Uh oh, looks like another convert in making @fieldgrade

Go to Statesville, you will really enjoy that match
Hey, I'm just looking for a playground to play in this weekend, since Saturday has the potential to be a washout, lol.

Here's another question. I got a bunch of 10 rd 9mm 1911 mags coming in, but they got slowed down by the weather, but might get here by Saturday.

What's the scoop on shooting 9mm single stack 1911? Factory ammo, either 115gr or 124.

Fine just scored minor which allows ten in the mag, make the hits count and it doesn't matter. Suggest 124 of the two weights you list, either should knock the steel down but heavier seems to do it better.

or shoot Limited 10 and get that first ever class win. yeah baby yeah.

just dont tell folks how many was in that division

I really need to shoot the .45 this weekend since I'm registered CDP for a sanctioned IDPA match the next weekend. Really just wondering for future reference.

I thought about making an L10 joke but there's some heat there this month.
Single stack looks wide open though, if only I had enough pouches.

How many would you carry if you could?

There's usually just one other guy in my class and division, so when the score sheet says "Fieldgrade - 2nd", what it means is dead last, lol.

The way I work reloads I would want atleast five on the belt and six doesn't sound bad. I carry four on the belt when I shoot production and I have run out once before by clinging to my planned reloads after the plan had gone out the window.

I will probably gear up for SS once I get my fullsize built.

I used 5 on the belt, one in the hand with a barney round in my pocket

plus the one in the gun after you load and make ready?

Nevermind, I think you meant one in the hand for the initial load (plus the barney mag in the pocket.) and five on the belt.

Well, the forecast for Clinton just gets worse.
Dammit.

Thinking.....pasters won't stick, score sheets hard to write on, everything getting wet including me. Naah, I stay home. I'm lucky enough that where I shoot has a match of some kind every weekend so I usually only have to wait a week for good weather. Besides, I'm old and got nothing left to prove. Major matches where I've already paid, etc. are another matter.

Looking at the CSOS registration sheet. .45acp 230 grain is "major", right?
