What firearms do you regret selling and why?

I had an old series 80 gold cup stainless in gunsmithing school. I used all my alteration credits fixing it up. I converted it to series 70, changed trigger, sear, mainspring housing, hammer, beavertail, magwell, grips, bushing, guide rod...pretty much everything except the sights(i liked those). I polished the whole thing to a blingy mirror finish and it was my pride and joy. Thought id never sell it until money problems came up. Listed it for 1200 on armslist and in 15 mins had a guy offer me 1400 if i drove it to charlotte. 3hours later it was gone. I still think about it and all the time i put into that thing and i miss it alot. When you create something its always worth more than money to you.....bygones 😌

I won a GA Precision rifle at the 2005 ASC match. George took it back and swapped out the action for a lefty and the stock went from a A4 to a A5. Keep in mid the A5 stock was only out for a year. I shot that rifle for the next 5 years and just flat out got board with it.

traded it 1:1 for a 16" DPMS LR-308 in 2011 that I thin built into a freaking HAMMER. After 5 years, BOARD, so I sold it for like $800.

I had a Calico M950 back in the 90s, kinda wish I still had it. Not because you can't get them now or that it was particularly good, just that it was mine and I bought it new and like having weird old stuff that I bought new.

I also had a MAK90, which I'm sure is better in my memory than it was in real life. post import ban unmatched thumbhole stock, bayonete lug removed with a grinder in some dingy warehouse somewhere, 'welded' thread blocker than broke off, etc. Probably shot horribly too, but in my mind, it was perfect.

I... Traded my HK P30L for a MAK90 plus $200

It was a good deal for me. But man. I miss my P30L a lot

Never could find one in stock ever again for under $650(what I paid)

Sounds like you stopped looking. You never know.....

Lots of guns have come through my hands over the years. I really don't miss any too much. Anything I let go and really regretted I got back. ;) One I do wish I still had was a minty Nickel 84FS like this one. At the time I sold it because I was getting out of 380 auto and it was too nice to shoot. Everything else I am ok with.

A Smith & Wesson 520 made for the NYPD . A fixed sight N frame 357. At the time, felt like it was too bulky to carry. Still miss that gun.

Had a Colt Anaconda 44 mag I let go. Needed to fund other things(not gun related) Was the best shooting revolver I ever owned.

I would love one of those, but just can't bring myself to buy another .380 that's as big or bigger than my 9mms.

I bought this recently. The 84s step brother.

Nice. May I ask, how much?

I sold mine because it was so pristine I didn't want to shoot it. "Why keep a gun I won't shoot?" I assumed I could find a replacement shooter; who knew they would go through the roof. Live and learn, should have shot it until it fell apart.

A little north of what this one actually sold at. It sold for less than $500 I was told but mine is in slightly better condition. https://carolinafirearmsforum.com/index.php?threads/browning-bda-380.66772/

The "backwards" safety on the Browning would be a no-go for me. I liked the S&W 5906 I briefly owned, but I just couldn't get past the safety. Up for safe, down for hot is reflexive for me & I ain't trying to confuse myself any more than necessary.

Beautiful guns, though.

I agree if it was a defensive gun. For me it is a beautiful range piece.

Remington 700 in 30/06. It was the rifle I killed my first buck with. I had developed a confidence in my abilities with the rifle. It would flat knock a deer out! After marriage, my wife started nursing school, money was tight! At the time we needed tuition money and book money and I sold it . Happy ending.. my wife has been a R.N. for 14 years.. I would do it again !!

2 model S&W model 28's. 4 inch and 6 inch.2 great shooters but very young in my gun years and family needed things so off they went. Promised myself that would never happen again. I've sold a few since then but nothing I can't replace

Had two Winchesters, one in .22 mag and one in .375

Both lever guns (94’s) and both like new.

Crap ... and there was that Belgium made Browning Auto 5 that I bought at about 14 and sold. (it was new too)

Probably my brand new cz 75 bd police. I sold it to an under 21 kid that had moved to a bad area and needed a handgun for safety. It went to a good home but I still miss it dearly.

I built a nice AK74 and managed to get ahold of one of those experimental LaRue optic mounts that replace the sight leaf. Someone threw an offer at me I couldn’t refuse, so good I don’t remember what it was. I should’ve kept my FAL, I think @jim2024bob stole that from me.

My Kahr P45 was on consignment to be sold with a bunch of other handguns. Most were sold pretty quickly. Other than the P45.

I had bought it 16 years ago because I liked the feel of it; it fit my hand, it wasn't heavy for a 45acp. $600 was a lot for me to spend for a gun that didn't have a sterling rep for function. I put a 925 rounds thru it before ever carrying. Mostly reloads; SWC, RNFP, HP. It did well with them all.

After a couple of weeks I got to missing it. Its a darn good shooter, lighter than about anything else for carrying, so I pulled it out of the gun shop.

Magdump cerecoted the slide black to match the frame. Made it look new again.

Nothing special about it, but I know it, and feel confident with it. It's an old friend. :)

I regret selling @DCGallim FAL...
I had a bunch of spare parts and built a 6.8 to hunt with one season. Maybe had $300 in that gun and traded some kid at the GSO show for the FAL. I may have traded the gun and ACOG of yours for the 74 from my post earlier. I just know I passed it to Elijah.

When I was a teenager, maybe 15 years ago, I sold a Lee Enfield No4 MK1 for $85 to buy an Xbox game. @Group23

Also my first AR, a Bushmaster. Nothing fancy but she was my first.

Dan Wesson Commander Bobtail .45 I bought at the Dixie show in Raleigh. Was a blemished NIB. Loved that thing. Didn't dig the bright polished SS flats but it was a nice handling gun.

That Sig 1911 Extreme-something or other with the pic. rail on the bottom. Never shot it. Traded an old pickup for it and then flipped the pistol to an uncle.

Made money on both sales but now I don't have a 1911. 😥

I don't miss the Beretta 92 INOX - fat pig of a gun. I don't get what you guys all like about the Beretta 92 / 96. Unless you've got gorilla hands, it's just too big.

Beretta 92 FS, sold because I didn't like the safety on the slide.
Same here, my first handgun was the civilian version of what I carried in the Navy on Quarterdeck watches. I kept it over 20 years, then sold it for no particular reason, and for less than I paid for it. If one turned up now near me, I'd probably buy it.

Then this past Spring when Covid was just starting to shut things down, I had this DPMS Oracle AR-15 that I didn't really like; I had bought it off a buddy many years ago as a favor because he said he couldn't make the house payment. I had tried to sell it a time or two and gotten no interest. So during the panic, I put it and 100 rounds on Armslist for an absurd price, and some Yankee that had just moved from a place he couldn't have one bought it. I laughed at the time, but right now, he could probably sell it for a profit.

Original Colt XM177E1......bought it for cheap in early 2000 and then sold it for for a big progitsome years later. Not exactly sure what I was thinking when I sold it.

Only one. A plain jane Marlin 795 22cal.
Sold it to my neighbor because his daughter loved it.
That rifle shot dime size groups all day long with any ammo offhanded and iron sights.
There was something about that one. It shot perfect. One of those that the stars align during it's birth.

Browning A-Bolt II Eclipse BOSS, .308 with a Zeiss 4.5x14 Conquest scope, heavy sucker with the 28" bull barrel and thumbhole stock, I liked it though.
Browning A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker BOSS, 30-06, with a Zeiss 2x7 Conquest scope. Almost had my hand loaded ammo tuned in, before starting to adjust the BOSS, I loved that gun, very mild recoil for a 30-06 with that brake. Loud though.
Traded both on a Corvette. Still trying to get the Eclipse back, he won't part with the SS. Got a Winchester 70 Classic BOSS, 30-06 to replace it.
Colt Trooper MK V, 6" nickel plated.
Bought new, needed the money at the time.

What a great thread! Despite my wise Grandfather warning me to never love anything that can't love you back :

Remington 700BDL in .270 Win , my Dad gave me, and I sold as a dumbass kid in his 20's. Whatever I bought with the money (rent?) I don't remember

Ruger Deerfield 77/44 - sold because I was bored, on the old Forum

T/C Hawkin 50 Cal kit gun that I built - see previous Dumbass comment.

Several others I've sold/ traded away over the years that I don't regret. Not bad guns, just never resonated with me. Including some AR's , a Browning BAR in 300 Win mag that needed a wheeled tripod to carry hunting, a bolt 300 Win Mag that I don't remember much about, and a Super Redhawk...

I don't know what got me thinking about this today. I was going to start a new thread on this topic, but found this one instead.

Haven't sold one and regretted it...but I haven't sold one either (details). I've flirted with the idea though - just don't want to experience seller's remorse. I've kicked myself too often for not buying when I had the chance that it'll take a lot for me to want to sell.
