What have you recently purchased that is firearms related?

Got a Gen II Viper PST 5x25x50 FFP for birthday/anniversary/Christmas. Once I got the scope in and took some measurements, ordered a pair of Badger Ordnance MAX 50 30 mm rings. Came in yesterday. This things are built like a.... Bradley (go 11B!). 6 screws per ring, #8 torx screws. HEAVY!! Can't wait to get it all mounted and do some shooting.

Well....... Spent some time last week dry firing to make sure everything felt right prior to shooting on Saturday. Couldn't shake the feeling that the scope isn't exactly level. I've got levels I use when mounting but they won't work on this particular set up due to combination of the scope sitting VERY low/close to the rail and there not being any easily accessed flat surface anywhere else on the rifle. So.... I've ordered the Wheeler Professional Scope Reticle leveling system. DOM DOM DOM!! Everything should be plumb by Wendsday and I'll be shooting at some point over the 3 day weekend coming up.

So, I'm now officially in the scope mounting business. Hit me up!

OH, and I also picked up the Vortex Defender flip caps for both front and back. After I do some shooting and verify new dope based on updated scope height, I'll be ordering some of their Dope Disks that fit in the Eye Piece cover. Seems a little gimcky on one hand but on the other.... a simple solution that I'm less likely to forget at home.

Let me know how the Wheeler’s work. I’m thinking about ordering some. It drives me crazy to level a scope with my 2 little levels at home then ride our to my range and realize it’s off a little bit. My OCD doesn’t like it

Will do, and neither does mine. Once I have a warm and fuzzy, I'm going to remount everything I have. Enough can't be said about having the right tool for the job. As far as optics and action screws goes, I haven't used Loctite since getting a torque screwdriver.

Midwayusa Range backpack on clearance, I added the Gerber pocket sharpener and shipping dropped to $5.

Have you tried feeler gauges?
Only works with one piece rails. Stacking them between the turret housing and rail is simple, fast, only way it can be off is if the internals aren't installed true.

EGW grip safety for 1911 build.

Have an Ed Brown cause I love them so, and they're half the price of this thing, but the tangs are undersize instead of oversized on the PSA frame and I wasn't feeling welding this one up, EGW cuts the radius undersize by .005 and leaves meat at all junctions so it can be fit tight, any ugliness should be soley on me.

What to do with the Brown...

Got 1,000 rds of American Eagle .223 on the truck for tomorrow plus a Magpul D60 drum mag. After rebate I will have $170 in the case of ammo, or the mag is free whichever way you view it.

I am also taking delivery of a previously loved SR1911 5" model, after my Springer was rehomed. Hope I'm as happy with it as that guy was with mine. I'm betting that the answer is yes.

My partner in B&M Rifles has everything that can be bought for leveling optics. Every time he hands me one I throw it up and say "Hmmmmm, just a little off". It drives him CRAZY. Talk about ocd, I mean he has a fit!

Which I suppose you can use all the best leveling equipment offered, but in the end, every person shoulders a firearm differently. I went shooting with a gunsmith buddy of mine and he wanted me to shoot his rifle. I put the rifle up and looked through the scope and the crosshairs looked like they where leaning left. My brother in law was with us and he thought it was leaning right. Haha. So maybe in the end, the best beat is to just eyeball it like I’ve always done?

I think that there are some situations where the scope is intentionally mounted slighty off to one side or another but I read about this long ago and it seemed a very niche type of shooting at a fixed distance with a particular offhand hold that cants the rifle. Its my understanding that it you are going to be shooting longer ranges, 300+, want to dial your shots and be sub moa accurate, the scope MUST be completely level or else you start introducing greater and greater amounts of "windage". Of course, this causes you to have to make more windage adjustments than should be needed for true wind/spin drift. The last time I let a gun shop mount a scope for me I asked what type of tool/jig they used and he told me, "Oh, I can eyeball it". If its a hunting rig for this part of the world, I don't think its a huge deal and "close nuff" is in fact close enough. I mean, the kill zone on a whitetail is like 8 inches I think.

Now, with all of that being said, I'm an ignoramus at best nor have I stayed at any Holiday Inn Expresses lately... so, YMMV.

Bought four suppressors this week. One on Sunday and three more today. They're just accessories after all, right?

BUY IT! @ $50 shipped from amazon, I have as much in all the other levels I’ve erroneously bought over the past few years. My wife said it’s pretty rare to see me giddy. My suspension about it being a hair off plumb was confirmed and for the piece of mind it’s well worth the cost. I shoot more than $50 bucks on a typical rifle range day by a good margin.

Some pieces of kydex, and a new slab of foam for the press, cause my foliage shell does not go with the mag pouches on my gamer belt. And some leather look stuff since my 1911 needs a holster.

Fifty metric targets and a couple thousand pasters, cause some day I will get serious about practice.
